New Years's Day 1983? Nicholas' goal? Sat behind the goals (said this before!!) the expectation from when he got the ball from the throw-in was amazing

I couldn't get a ticket for the game and had gone to the Partick Thistle match complete with radio tuned to Clyde listening to Richard Park's commentary. Just as Charlie hit the shot Thistle won a shy and about a dozen or so guys in the stand (me included) let out the proverbial YESSSSSSS. We looked die hard Jags men that day

This are the strips Scotland and England should always play in. I hate this trend toward having the shorts and socks match the jerseys, particularly in the international game. I know...I know....it's so unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but still.

Another vote for this thread as one of the very best. The non-Celtic pics thread is pretty fantastic too.

I believe the matching shirt and shorts is a must for the European Championships. Some new rule :cuckoo: Referees are really soft when it comes to kit clashes too these days.

The look on wee Doylie's face :rocker:
Belter. I've no idea what the actual incident was but it looks as if he's checking how much damage he'd done.

In Bobby McPhail's book are some close-up photographs of the John Thomson-funeral, Willie McStay and the 1928 final that I haven't seen before. Will scan them later this week (hopefully in decent quality).

Reckons McGrory was better than Dixie Deans and that Patsy was vastly superior to Alex James, Andy Cunningham, Wilf Mannion, Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalgliesh and Benny Steel. But "a dirty wee blighter" and, as a youngster, was knocked out by him during his Airdrie-days after three quick punches to the gut. although even that was nothing compared to Tully Craig's antics.

Another story that I recall from the late Bennett Reuben was that Patsy had to get stretchered off after a heavy tackle, yet took the goading offender out with a swing of his healthy leg.
