Yep that was my first strip (aged 5 or 6). My older brother was home on his first leave from the Navy. Took me down to Pitcher Sports in Partick and had me kitted out in the Celtic Strip. Next day I was out in the street complete with Tommy Gemmell number 3 shorts kicking a ball. An old Celtic daft neighbour from the next close told me many years later that I had been the first celtic strip he has seen in our street; he had shouted his wife to the window to see this wean playing in the hoops.

Pitcher Sports - christ that's a blast from the past.

Are they still on the go :ponder:

Every Saturday I used to go into the one in Paisley for replacement studs, tie ups, etc. before making my way to the 50 pitches.

The one in Partick shut many many years ago. I remember as a 14 year old joining their savings club to put aside 50p a week to get my first Boat Rod.

50 Pitches !! Another blast from the past. Jeeeeez the number of Saturday mornings I trudged back from there with my knees and elbows skinned to the bone. It wasn't just ash that was put down on the pitches, near the corner flags I recall bloody great clinkers from the local works boilers.
Winters there were murder , crinkly tin changing rooms with dirt floors , freezin cold , no lights and last in had to shove up for a space on the wooden bench , with the rest of the team moaning like hell. Great memories.
