Before the game they had females with the flags of each club to have won the SC in the preceding 99 years. Poor females that had the hun flags, wisnae their fault. BOOOO.
I think we also had old players come on the pitch and it was nice to see Dalglish getting a cheer from the fans after the abuse he got in jock Stein's testimonial.

Dougie McGuire is the 2nd photo, Elvis. John Traynor there also above Barney Mcghee.
Right on all counts, two more to go.
Stevie Kean and Jim McKechnie.

By the way Dougie McGuire was on the best prospects I've ever seen. I rated him better than Joe Miller.

Said it before but this is easily the best thread on KDS
It is, but some of the images - the older ones in particular - could do with a caption describing them.

Ronnie Coyle was at my school, St Gerards, three years older. May he rest in peace.

Fair enough but younger - or at least, less historically savvy - Tims like me could often do with a wee pointer in the direction of who and what the picture is of.

Great photos, and a great thread nonetheless. :worthy:

What a pic that is

Re Dougie McGuire. Saw his one and only game for Sunderland, away to York in a crucial game in their Third Division season, having bigged him up on his form for Celtic Reserves. He, sadly, was rank and subbed at Ht, I think. Shame

Celtic fans leave the Gorbals in a van for Milan 1970 ECF.

I can't recall exactly the name of the pub they were leving fro but it may be The Glenbervie.

Maybe Gorbals Urchin will know more...

Please god it was taking them to the airport!

Just checked on Google Maps, it's 1200 miles. With my anorak on, the van is a Commer Spacevan (used a lot by GPO telecoms, now BT back in the 60's and 70's). The engine, like many similar vans of that era was between the driver and passenger. They were noisy, uncomfortable, drafty bone shakers and had no power. The Ford Transit wiped the floor with their ilk. To go to Milan in the back of that must have been hell, never mind the final. Come to think of it, going to the airport would be bad enough.

There were loads - with the crowd reaction entirely based on their, um, perceived affiliations.

Remember Joe Jordan getting a great reception which, for some reason, surprised me.

Can anyone remember any of the others?
