Still being drawn away from home
Forgot to ask, the attendance at the TL v Celts game at 42,000 seems incredible to me, was their stadium that big to hold such a crowd, I thought they were a small club?
Meanwhile check out the 'Drawings' figure next to the attendance :nono:
[edit] beaten to it

Cathkin Park was a decent size, about 2/3rds the size of Hampden, also a Glasgow club so for the era the crowd seems plausible.
Thanks Volvic, would you know if that crowd was primarily home supporters or was it that large because of our support?

Also the crowd at the huns game seems derisory?

Hard to say, Cathkin Park is next to Govanhill, which at the time would be an area with a large Irish community there, but Thirds had a decent support, hence the size of their stadium which was far bigger than Shawfield or Firhill. 42,000 sounds like a sell out crowd.
Meanwhile Bayview is a tiny ground so 10,000 sounds like a sell out as well.

Somebody's testimonial at Highbury, only time we wore that combo. I think it was 2 each and Champagne Charlie scored for us.
Paul Davis's. July 1991. A pissing wet night in London and about 20,000 Celtic fans turned up and took over the clock end. I was supposed to be with then wife at Hyde Park as Pavarotti was doing a free gig. As she was heavily pregnant at the time, I nixed it and ordered her to stay at home. Then I popped out to see a friend for a couple of hours. ;)

Official attendance, 27,000

Dwoczek (sic) scored the other goal.

I think the maximum capacity at New Cathkin was 50,000. Folk have recently given it a wee tidy up, apparently.

Ironic they went bust in the year we won The Big Cup and Rangers lost in wee Cup which ironically also died.

Went bust is a polite way of putting it. Their owner drove them head first in to the ground because he had a deal set up to sell the land for a supermarket, but there was such an outcry at the way Thirds were killed that the deal fell through because no supermarket would touch it fearing a backlash.
Too late to save the club though.

Cumbernauld Juniors get to play the Lisbon Lions in 1968.
A young Kenny Dalglish between Bobby Murdoch & Willie Wallace (I think).

Lee Dixon scored for them? I think he scored twice against us in friendlies around that time.

He definitely scored in the Tony Adams testimonial in 2002. Can't remember who scored for them in 1991. Was a little drunk at the time. ;)
