Is that Aston Villa?
Aye, pre-season friendly in '86. We beat them 1-0, with Brian McClair scoring.

Match report here - http://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/1986-08-02%3A+Celtic+1-0+Aston+Villa%2C+Friendly

Hearts had a very similar strip at the time, and had the same Mita sponsor. But that photo is definitely from the Villa game.

I happened to be fortunate to sit beside Jim Craig at Brendan's book launch of Celtic The Early Years 1887-1892. While he was up about posing for pics etc i took a few cheeky snaps of his copy of Go Ahead Deventer's Niet to Kraten book :ph43r:

Pics to follow....

If it's the game I think it is, McGhee scored, 1-1 draw, real cracker, big crowd at Tynecastle, just before Christmas. Good honest fitba when the New Firm and Hearts were much better than deidco

That isn't Celtic. It's either Kilmarnock or Morton who both played in blue and white hoops in the 50's.

The socks give it away.
Also think the keeper's outfit isn't a CFC one
It is Killie, however, the big defender is Willie Toner who started with us around 1950, he had a couple of first team matches before moving on to Sheffield United. He then went to Kilmarnock shortly afterwards and became a mainstay. The goalie was called Jimmy Brown apparently.
