Wots significant about the gap between the Jungle and the Celtic end in that pic?

:rocker:

That's where the original pavilion was.

The most expensive wayleave in the history of the SSEB. ;)

EDIT: Scratch that, getting floodlights and pylons mixed up.

The pictures of the area between the Celtic end and the jungle remind me of a story I heard about CP Tully.

An old (and reliable) friend told me he met Johnny Bonnar at a charity do many years back. He said that he and Tully were nearing the end of their Celtic careers so they were in and out of the first team and the reserves. In those days the 1st team and reserve team were at home on alternate weeks (and a season ticket got you into all home games) so they played at Celtic Park quite often. There was a guy who stood in that sparsely populated spot near the corner flag at all home games and always gave Tully dog's abuse. Apparently at one reserve game Tully went to take a corner there, and, as he bent down to place the ball, he turned, faced the terracing and quickly toe ended the ball right into the the boy's dish! The ball bounced back onto the park and Tully took the corner.

I do hope that's true - but it does sound like CPT!

Was there any particular reasoning or explanation as to why these 2 legends had to share a Testimonial Match??

i ve still got the news paper from that game at home  the headline reads JACKPOT JOE
i'd love to see you full collection of memorabilia if you're keeping papers about random games from the 70's, must be impressive.

same for Glasgow Road, Yogi, Four-Leaf-Clover and the rest.
