One of the very few finals played outside Glasgow possibly only other in modern times would be League Cup Final replay of 1979.
The first game and replay of the 1979 League Cup final was held at Dens. As was the 1980 League Cup final.
Aberdeen v Utd,first match was Hampden, replay was at Dens.Following year Utd v Dundee was at Dens.
Apologies duff info from me on the first 79 game - not sure who Im blaming that on so I'll blame myself

Was it the wee winger Brian McLauglin(sp) :ponder:

Ian Scanlon and Alan Sneddon 1980. Great winger was Scanlon and they say he was Celtic mad.
Spent many a night in the Trent Bridge Inn in Nottingham when Scanlon & my mate were playing for County ..... he was a Celtic fan
He was a smashing player!

What a picture ! The Calton John Travolta ! Check the size of the collar (and the crucifix, God bless you Tam).

I'm sure Davie Provan said that until he got married in 1980 Tommy still stayed up a close in the Calton with his Ma.

The last of a kind right enough. :(
The family moved from Soho St, Calton to Drygate in the 70s.

Recognise the celebration, was definitely Big Joe v huns, November '76. Celtic's first league victory over them since Jan '74. Greig broke Wee Bobby's ankle this night.

Anyone know when where and why, cheers.

And, is that Pat McLuskey in the background?

Posted Image
One can only presume that Jinky was in trouble with the authorities and that Fairbairn who was a QC was representing him. Maybe he was the Paul McBride of his time !

If Pat McCluskey is there then it could be something to do with the Copenhagen scandal in 1975.

Controversial doesn't even begin to describe Fairbairn. And as you can see he dressed like a dandy as well :rocker:
Think this is a court case from '74. Paddy and Jinx were involved in a fight in some pub out Hamilton way after a Sunday Celtic home defeat. Paddy was fined for his involvement (minding Jinx), think the Wee Man was exonerated.

May I be the umpteenth person (I've been counting) to say what a wonderful thread this is ?

When it reaches 200 pages, I'm going to start reading it from scratch again, because that's how good it is.
