I think they got the Donegal location wrong, should be Bunbeg instead of 'Dunbeg'.

Apparently 5 hotels have closed in the Bunbeg/Gweedore area in recent times, including the Seaview hotel mentioned in the article. I wonder if the hotel they were talking about building was the Ostan Gweedore which was built around 1970. If so that is one of the hotels closed/up for sale. Bad times economically for Gweedore.

Nothing in those pictures would seem to suggest otherwise, but why are you so certain of the date exactly?...

Good question although i never said i was certain and it was only the conclusion i came to after i was told by Tom Purdie the source of the images that it was either 3rd or the 10th Sept 1960, the game on the 3rd had a crowd of 60,000 and was refereed by Tiny Wharton, the game on the 10th was 40,000 and refereed by Hugh Philips, your welcome to draw your own conclusions.

The referee appears to be of an average size which sort of rules out the bold Tiny.

No, I am in no position to disagree.

Amazing the amount of detective work goes into these discussions...

His son has it all. He was hoping to catalogue it I believe.

Remember that game like yesterday. Joe Craig missed two sitters which would have put a better reflection on the score :(
