1990 Scottish Cup final, 120 minutes of utter tedium.
Could have been the first time we lifted the Scottish Cup three times in a row.
Anton took the flak for having his penalty saved, but our other miss that day Wdowzyk, didn't even hit the target.
The closest we came was a Billy Stark header which went a good foot past, they didn't much closer to be honest.
Our hellish downward spiral had began during this season, we finished 5th and missed Europe.
At least Hampden had a decent pitch then.

It was a dreadful season culminating in a dreadful Cup Final display, from both teams to be fair.

Interesting side note, Pat Bonner never got near any of their penalties in the shootout, but a couple of months later he became a national hero in the World Cup when he saved Timoftes effort at Italia 90 in another shootout that ended with Ireland progressing.

The first Scottish Cup decided on penalties IIRC. And Charlie scored the winner IIRC :nono:

I will never forget the scandalous and sustained attack on Big Roy, Mark McGhee and on Big Billy that Gerry Mcnee besieged them with. Was never about football, completely personal.

Once a good reporter, now, forever, a cretin in my eyes.

Wdowzyk's effort is orbiting one of Saturn's moons still.

Not even close. Was it 9-8, that day?

Don't think it was Charlie - possibly Brian Irvine? :ponder:

I was at that game, Elliot saved a Nicholas shot off the line. Apart from Stark's chance, we created nothing. Rogan was the fall guy for missing the penalty.

Always brings a smile to my face, Giles looks like a tramp and Brady looks pretty wary of him.
