Ah yes, the 3-0 win at Broomfield when Cascarino retired a WPC when he crashed into her as he careered off the pitch knackering her back, the poor woman was carted off on a stretcher.
That might've been the 0-0 League Cup game that we lost on penalties. Looks like there's
still some sunlight shining. The 3-0 game was in November.

JJ
Good point, although I do remember at the November game the game being so engaging that we noted the sunset.
A guy in front of us turned round and said he was relieved to hear us saying that, he had been smoking some strong stuff and throught he was majorly tripping with that sunset!

When I was younger I hated wee MacDonald. And Greig. And Forsyth. I use 'hate' in the loosest context.

The older I get I grudgingly admire them.

They fought for their cause as our heroes fought for ours.

They were 'jersey players' just as we had.

Those days are gone. Only mercenaries remain.
They played for a club based on pure hatred.
We played for a club based on pride.

No comparison.

Team from the same game against Finn harps.
Who is the lad to the right of McCourt?
Think that is Callum Bagshaw.
Thank you, TWG, honestly say I never heard of him :ponder:

My ticket from Buenos Aires (I wasn't born)
Does anyone know if these were to be reused for 2nd match in Montivideo? Or were there new tickets issued?

Almost certain it would have been pay at the gate.

We do know and Jim Craig mentioned it on Saturday that Desmond White brung a bag of money (Pesos) home from that particular match in Uruguay.

Did the story not go that the suitcase full of money lay untouched in a Glasgow bank vault for many years later?.

Classic here. Winning by the toss of a coin against Third Lanark 1960

Posted Image
The only time when McGrory went nuts at his team.

According to Sean Fallon McGrory saw the team in jubilant mood and celebrating the win by the toss of a coin and said they should be ashamed of themself, then just slamming the door and roaring home.

MacDonald is a horrible little bigot IMHO, I still really enjoy the fact that our league win in 1986 caused him his biggest ever sporting disappointment and the sight of him at the end of the show That Was The Team That Was in tears remembering it did give me a laugh.
