Can any of the older members help out with a query from this photo?

If you look at the jungle in the background the terracing looks quite shallow and the wall at the back far taller than it ended up being when I started going to Parkhead regularly in the 80s. I've noticed the same in picture from the 60s. Most noticeably there were stills from an old cine-film which must be from around 1967-68 time. Also a group photo of the Celtic youth team with Dalglish etc in it looking very young. Both showed the terracing looking significantly shallower than we knew it latterly in the 1990s

From this photo above there seems not to be any crowd entrances in the jungle either. Were these added later? :ponder:

All this leads me to believe that the banked terracing of the jungle must have been extended at some stage between it being converted from the cowshed (1966) and some time in the early 70s, but how could they have done it given that the back wall of the jungle went right onto the road on Janefield Street and it looks quite shallow still here with the new roof?

Did they dig forward onto the running track or something? That seems to be the only way that they could have deepened the terracing and kept the same roof.

I'm confused! :ponder:

is it that the jungle is only about half full in the picture that's throwing you? The back wall starts where you see the double dark lines going across..

That would be a reasonable supposition, but that not the case.

Theere are two boxes (not sure what they are) on the left hand side below where you say you think the wall starts, which would not appear as they do (i.e. flat) They would mirror the slope of the terraces if the terraces started where you say they do. Plus, there seems to be no entrances on the terraces and at that angle you'd see probably entrance number 6 or 7 from memory...

Still confused. We need the auld bhoys on here..
