That's a fantastic pic, one of the best pics in nearly 2000 pages with a direct link right back to our foundation.

John McKillop served on the Board from 1921 to 1941. His uncle William McKillop was a founding father.

Robert Kelly served on the Board from 1932 to his death in 1971. His father James Kelly played in our first match, was our first captain and started the Kelly dynasty.

Tom Colgan served on the Board from 1906 to 1939 when he retired to go home to Toomebridge and be elected onto the Belfast Celtic Board. Was involved with the club right from 1888.

Tom White served on the Board from 1906 to his death in 1947. Founding father John Glass left his shares to his protege and fellow member of the Home Government Branch of the Irish National League Tom White on his death, Started the White dynasty.

John Shaughnessy served on the Board from 1911 to his death in 1952. (Longest serving Board member over Tom White by a couple of months). His father Joseph Shaughnessy was a founding father and lawyer who sailed the club through many murky waters in our early days.

Willie Maley served as player, Match Secretary and Secretary Manager from 1887 to 1940. No description is necessary.

In order 20, 39, 33, 41, 41 and 53 years of service.

227 years of service from just six Celtic men.
Incredible.
Fantastic picture & post :worthy:

Never seen Charlie Gallagher signing as Charles Gallagher - Must have been using his Sunday name.

Edit - Just clocked the "Johnny Fallon". :o :ffs:

I was 8 then my uncle Johnny ran a bus from Coatbridge and all the family used to go. Life seemed simpler then.

The shamrock top looks great in colour. Annoys me though the amount of times Charlie Gallagher's name is misspelled even in official club publications. Such a fine surname as well!

On a Sunday he used to sit in front of my family quite often at mass at St Matthews in Bishopbriggs, I was about 6 so it would have been about 1966, (my pre Athiest days.) I presume he must have lived in Bishopbriggs then?

A wis gonnae say that

Its from the Daily Record 18th June 1938

Although the caption says the photograph was taken prior to the clubs annual meeting last night, earlier in the day Celtic were presented with the Glasgow Charity Cup by Rangers patron and Oil magnate/millionaire/baronet Sir John Cargill (seen here outside City Chambers) before going on to their 50 year Jubilee dinner at the Grosvenor Hotel.

St Anthony's juniors 1952.

Michael Conroy senior back row second from left.
Thanks for posting this picture - here and on the Ants Twitter site.

There is a former Celtic man in the line-up, Charlie Kelly, second from the right in the front row. His senior career was ruined by having to serve in the Royal Navy, and he ended up playing Junior for Duntocher Hibs, Bellshill Athletic and St Anthony's.

This is either the Erskine Hospital Charity Cup final vs Renfrew at Tinto Park, Friday 4/7/52, or the Smyllum Cup final vs Duntocher Hibs at Moore Park, Saturday 5/7/52. The good old Ants won both.

My money's on the Smyllum Cup final, which the Ants won 8-0. The shadows look about right for 4.45 on a Saturday afternoon, as opposed to 8.45 on a Friday evening. Also, the surface and the dusty state of the players' boots look right for a game played on the black ash at 'Stoor Park'.

The Ants team that day was O'Grady (who went to Cowdenbeath), Conroy (Celtic), Graham, Turnbull, O'Donnell (Ayr United via Irvine Victoria), Cavenagh, Mitchell, Elliott, Martin, Kelly and Philbin. Sorry I can't be precise about which player is which in the photo as right-half Peter Turnbull is sitting behind the cup in his role as captain, so mucking up the half-back trio. I think the guy in the suit may be match-secretary Jim McGlone, but I don't know the trainer's name - looks like he should be running Porky's!

If that is the Smyllum Cup, it was presented to the orphanage by Celtic legend Charlie Shaw.
