According to the Falkirk Herald, this is Dixie Deans meeting Dixie Deans.
The older gentleman isn't William 'Dixie' Dean of Everton fame, there might have been another Dixie Deans perhaps?

For those of us who know Chester a bit, Dixie Dean ran the 'Dublin Packet' pub in the city centre. The pub is still there.

Neither have I. I wonder why we did it that day?

There's a few near historians on here, who must know.

Edit-that doesn't look like their old midden.

I would say for some reason the shorts and socks have came out negative.
We wore white shorts and black socks with green trim at that time, early 20s judging by the young McGrory.

The socks here show as if they are green with black trim.

Negatives for me.

Could be it's hard to tell.

For me there's something not right bout the pic. I'm no expert in photo techniques but the shorts and socks just don't look right.
The shorts are "too black". The socks aren't our usual ones either.
Can't see a reason why we'd wear black shorts and green socks against the huns either.

Is it even Ibrox?

Plus the player behind appears to be wearing an all white top, with dark shorts. Did they photoshop, back in the day?

It is Ibrox, they built the main stand in 1928, that was the original.

Photieshop is evident in very early Celtic team pics, from memory as far back as 1890s and definitely 1900s.

The more i look at it, even with McGrory's top there's something not right. The hoops were always the same thickness, this one has thicker white hoops than green.

Maybe a negative. Same with the keepers top?

15th October 1927 was the date of the match, the week after we beat them in the Glasgow Cup Final, and our first defeat of the season which all ties in with the report.

Our away strip that season from the historical kits website was a green top with our usual white shorts and usual black socks. The two away strips from the previous season had the same white shorts and black socks so we had no black shorts and green socks combo at that time.

http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Celtic/Celtic-change-kits.html

After all this i'm probably wrong but i can't find anything YET to say we wore black shorts and green socks.
If and when i find it i'll post it if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

If no joy by the morra i'll pop into the Mitch and find out either way.

PS unless the Sports Editor of the Record went to the game wearing a zorro mark, there's evidence of photies shop in same article.

dundalk v celtic

Think it was folksinger who was asking if there were any pictures from this game. Came across this.
Very indebted to you for this video.Thought I would never see moving pictures of it.Great sentimental value in this for me.Many many thanks.
