Referee is Hugh Phillips, who awarded us two penalties in the LC final in October 1965... against the Huns!!!!
Has he a mark on his face or is it just the image?
He had a 'port-wine stain' birthmark. He worked in the tax office which used to be at the corner of George Street and Montrose Street.
Hugh's nephew, also Hugh, wrote the Dan Doyle song and is a guide at Celtic Park :rocker:

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
It's no sur.

It's CP.

Evidence?
Photo 1 - debatable image EEP/CP.........(Im plumming for CP)

Photo 2 - EEP Shed at the corner flag around the same time ;) (Ma Da is on the roof!!)

Note the position of the EEP floodlight as opposed to CP, also one of the big trees in the cemetery is clearly visible in the CP shot.

Image 3 is EEP in 1965, which shows the roof shape as straight, the Hayshed (Jungle) roof is curved as is clear in the image.

Also notice where the respective terrace roofs finish as opposed the bye-line, EEP overshoots by a distance as opposed to CP.

Im also going to throw a spanner in the works and rule out EEP and Dunfermline by saying the opponents in image 1 are Falkirk in their change red strip with blue pinstripe

I'll leave it to you guys, behave now :handbags:

ps. Im going to Dunfermline for work this afternoon, the old shed still has the same roof....... don't make me take the camera

Hamburg mid 90's, still one of the best Euro trips I've been on :cuckoo:

The lines of riot cops between us and the Hamburg 'fans' were all facing us, as the chairs etc came crashing towards us without the cops budging, all this was in the first 5-10 minutes IIRC  Too busy ducking for cover and we were down to 9 men
This away trip is by far my favorvite one. Can't even remember the game, didn't realise we had two players sent off till I bought a newspaper at a service station in England on the return journey by bus. Had a great trip on the Old Kilpatrick Supporters bus I think it was. Good times, good times.

Three observations:

1. The pic is a 'mirror image; this is it 'flipped':

Posted Image

2. That is the final league match of 1967/68;

3. The 'shed' in the pic is behind the goal to the right of the EEP main stand as you face it. :P

Alright we'll rule out photo 2 as evidence

It's still CP though in image1 ;)

You can't tell from that angle; but just had a look at the original pic - there is a line which gives the impression that the roof over the terracing is white. However, what I did notice is that the goal-line is behind the posts!!! The Huns will now try to invalidate our NIAR.

Right, Otis and CelticIreland, Im going to fuel your argument.

Was up in Dunfermline today visiting aidensboots on KDS business contacts masonic duty

So I couldn't help myself going to the scene of the crime to gather some evidence.

Now the case for and against the image being either EEP or CP is very strong - based on a fecking tree  The tree in the image I WAS 100% sure is in Janefeild Street Cemetery, the Shed at EEP at the far right corner has a tree visible also, in yes you guessed it a fecking cemetery :suspect:

Looking back through countless images of both stadiums in the 1960's at the end of the Jungle and the Shed both respective trees look about the same age (Im no tree hugger BTW) and both are exactly in line with the touchline/corner flag.

So here is my photographic evidence for the EEP side of the argument.

Image 1, offending tree and Shed.

Posted Image

Image 2, view from tree inline with touchline/corner flag.

Posted Image

Image 3, view from touchline/corner flag to tree

Posted Image

Image 4, crazy looking fella in work clothes hanging onto the top of stadium doors to photograph through the gap :P

Posted Image

Now if someone could just work out 45 years growth on the tree in the debatable image then we should have answer.

No trees or Fifers were harmed during this project.

5-4 game against Dunfermline at EEP in 1966; that is from the first half... could be Joe McBride's first goal.
That's no EEP that's CP sur.

Deffo Celtic Park 1964

Suprised that flags still flying, locals used them as curtains

6-1 League cup game against East Fife, probably Stevie Chalmers scoring as he got 5
