Scotland v Wales at Pittodrie, 1934 including Peter McGonagle and Charlie Napier.

Napier scored twice

At the middle of the front row is Ronnie Simpsons father, Jimmy Simpson, who was scotland & rangers captain. Credited for their great record vs us back then as he usually prevailed against McGrory. Crum had his number though, caused 3 Old-Firm penalties in the 37/38 season.

Think there are 4 Hearts players - Walker, Massie, Anderson & Harkness. Quite a high number for a team without any trophies in the 30's.
Don't think that's Jack Harkness in goal, so maybe only 3 Jambos?

Got the names now. It's Allan McClory from Motherwell.

Massie (Hearts), McGonagle (Celtic), Anderson (Hearts), McClory (Motherwell), Duncan (Derby), Brown (Rangers)
Cook (Bolton), Walker (Hearts), Simpson (Rangers), Napier (Celtic), McCulloch (Hearts)

Still 4. :ph43r: Although McCulloch was sold to Brentford in the following summer following financial problems and ongoing stadium expansions.

I'm always intrigued that defenders in that age weren't necessarily taller than the rest of the squad. Pretty sure Willie Buchan was taller than McGonagle, Morrison & Hogg.

Easter Road 1973, Attendance 48,000
I remember that day. Harold Wilson was emerging from the North British Hotel in Princes Street just as a huge contingent of Celtic fans arrived at Waverley Station after the match. His limo was parked outside and was getting rocked from side to side, and the security guys could do absolutely nothing. Wilson looked really scared, but then the Celtic fans started singing "Haaaarold Wil-son, Haaaarold Wil-son" at the top of their voices and he started smiling and waving. Not sure what happened after that as I got pushed further along Princes Street by the crowd. Great memories! :)

You forget what a fine player Paul Wilson was.
Any details on this fixture date wise? Looks like St. Mirren.Wilson was a class act.
I thought Paul Wilson was a great player for celtic ... if memory serves me well was he nicknamed Tumai ( sorry for spelling ) or something like that ?

he was, in those less PC days of the 70's. The elephant boy was a TV series........ and nobody thought there was anything wrong with that!!!!

the wiki has it as this match.. I thought we always wore green socks against them around that time.... obviously not!!
