The wee temporary stand on that side where the trees are was indeed a temporary stand built for the game in 67 and the ground was as it still is today 3 sided.

What i adore about these pics are that if you take away the main stand too this is the nearest we will ever see of what Brother Walfrid saw before we started work building the Pavillion and the Janefield Street stand after 100,000 cartloads of earth filled in the 40ft hole and emptied it of water to flatten out the site.

My own view is that there were only TWO world class individuals in the Lions team, i.e. Murdoch and Johnstone.

However, each one of them was top class and they were most definitely a world class TEAM. :thumbsup: :worthy:
Wouldn't you class big Billy as world class? My old man says he was the greatest centre half he ever saw.

Why was there a 40 ft hole?
It was an old quarry or brickfield.
