this is a brilliant picture

Firhill late 60s maybe.

Those tenement flats are still there on that corner of the road, next to Ruchill Park.
You can see a wee roof at the top of terracing, which was old covered terracing behind the goal (the stand that has Celtic fans now)

I first went to Firhill in 1976 and the roof was not there.

Must have knocked it down early 70's.

Is that Murano Street? My dad was born there in 1927, although they moved to Agnes Street on the other side of Maryhill Road shortly after. I didn't know until recently that one point he was a steward at Firhill, it wasn't something he boasted about. (He didn't last there long) , although he was a big Celtic man he had a bit of a soft spot for Thistle.

We went there in the early seventies for a mid week match, they were playing Munich 1860 in a friendly. They might have been in the old Second Division then?

Yes that's Murano Street

Thistle were in second division in mid 70s - they didn't make cut when Premier League came in for 75 - but think they came up in 76 and St Mirren came up in 77.

A lot of teams down in second tier (Killie) had good crowds when they met up. Think there was 12,000 for PT-Killie at Firhill and remember Clydebank-StMirren was a 10,000 lockout at Kilbowie (maybe on Christmas Dat?)
