Robson Testimonial
I got a client's "posh" tickets for that game and was in the North Stand with some friends. They could not believe the Celtic support that night, all for a testimonial 200 odd miles from their home turf. :rocker:

Cheers for that and, Carfin Harp, the black pudding info, above.

Bobby Carroll was the name right enough. I thought Bertie Auld didn't ring a bell.

That would be the Provan Gasworks nr Blochairn, it has 2 larger gas holders, the one in the pic is a single and was in Helen St, the ibrox station was closed to the public in about 1967.

Have seen this pic of the fans before as being taken at Helen Street station in Govan on the day of an OF game. Not clear for that source or this* if they're Celtic fans or not - would both sets of fans have used that station? If still open would allow a way to get to the Hunnery without have to suffer their stench on the subway.

*Unless you take that bowler hat bottom left as an indication they're all from the dark side!

Ibrox Station.

Was full of huns at every game.

Gasometer was beside the White City dog track.

I can remember vaguely being on that train from Central.

Possibly there was an entrance or lane leading down opposite from the wee huns club at Edmiston Drive.

Not a great idea in the days of 80,000 going to see a match down there.

Probably is the huns in that pic :suspect:

The station was up near the junction at Paisley Road West and Broomloan Road, just behind that big blue nose pub which was called Ibrox House, im sure you can still see that old line just at the service station.

Map o it

But i also think there a path/lane/entrance leading from Edmiston Drive.
Looking at the angle of the photograph the trees in Bellahouston Park and the gasometer are behind the crowd.
Think you would describe part of the station as a halt used on match days.
Not a train to be on wearing the green and white.

This might have come up much earlier but there was a Celtic Film Club in the early 70s. I remember one of the cameramen telling me how, when filming a game v Rangers, Kenny Dalgliesh rounded on John Grieg after a typical Grieg tackle and threatened to break Grieg's leg if he tackled him like that again.

I'm wondering what happened to all the films? Maybe Celtic have them?
