This has been a brilliant and invaluable thread - some amazing photos. My first trip to Paradise was in 1975, aged 8. Celtic were played off the park by Hibs and were 2-0 down before the gradually thickening fog that day resulted in an abandonment of the game - didn't matter to me as I was already hooked on Celtic by that stage. Was in the Rangers End that day with my Da and some of his mates. And in this thread I finally saw a photo from that day - incredible.
My next trip over to see a game was in October 1976 to see Kenny Dalglish score both goals in a 2-0 victory over Motherwell - we were in the Rangers End again and had a great view of the two very fine finishes. Anyone any recollections of that particular game?

Folk Singer - I have hundreds of old pics from that era but unfortunately I don't have one from that game.

I too was in the Rangers end that day and Kenny Dalglish scored both goals in a 2-0 win at that end. Motherwell had just beaten Rangers 3-1 the previous week and this was a good win for us as they had decent players then such as Willie Pettigrew, Vic Davidson and Peter Marinello.

There was a decent crowd of 30,000 at it although you can add 5-6000 on to that as kids were lifted over in those days (I was one of them). The game was televised and the goals can be seen on youtube montages of Kenny's time as a Celt. Joe Craig and Pat Stanton were not long at Parkhead and were settling in.

I'll have another look at my old stuff to see if I can see anything for you.

We stayed over and saw the highlights on STV the next day. Dalglish's first goal flew into the roof of the net and his second was a daisy cutter. Danny McGrain was a gem of a player at that time.Celtic Park had a magical quality for me then and I recall buying a scarf that day in the old souvenir shop - I still have that scarf.
We came back in October 1977 to see a nervy 3-2 win against an Ayr Utd team who I think were eventually relegated. We celebrated big Roddie McDonald's winner like we had captured the Treble! The team were really struggling with Dalglish gone and McGrain,Conn and Stanton all missing through injury. I recall Joe Fillippi played well for Ayr that day and Stein signed him the following week to fill in at right back. Also Celtic had Frank Munro at centre half - oh dear.
As a young supporter that season 1977-1978 certainly strengthened the immune system for any future disappointments

Aye Yogi he could not stay any closer to CP and he was also living on top of CP1

Edit to say]

Charlie Docherty was the top groundsman and worked at CP for years, he was also the son-in-law of another groundsman Willie Quinn.
