Who is he?
looks like john collins to me, Elvis
I thought that as well, but he's wearing Puma boots and Collins was famously an Adidas Predator man.
Strip puts it at summer 95 to summer 97
good attention to detail, Volvic. Didn't notice that

I don't think it's JC, Trurolion, this lad has a Donegal connection but I can't seem to find the site where I originally downloaded the still.

Hmmm... Based on what you anhd Volvic said, maybe not JC. Might be a lad called Declan Boyle. :ponder: Don't think he made a 1st team appearane competitively. If him, he was released and moved to Derry around '97.

Cracker !

First Celtic goalie I ever saw :)
Great photo, but I wish he had dived like this at penalty kicks. He just sort of squatted down with his legs apart, making himself look small, and didn't (couldn't) dive left or right. Players rarely chipped the ball down the middle in those days, so he was well stuffed. Never understood it. :ponder:

Supposed to be Celtic player Malcolm MacDonald meeting Churchill.
McDonald is the player before the guy shaking hands with Churchill.

Caption says back row ; Ian Andrews, Roy Baines, Peter Latchford, Dennis Connaghan, Paddy Bonner, Alan Rough.
Front row ; Frank Connor, Ronnie Simpson, Ally hunter, Dick Beattie, John Fallon.
One of my Dad's best pals played for Peterborough United in the 60s (A local legend in Peterborough, passkeeper at our church and a big Celtic man). He used to say that he could tell when Dick Beattie was fixing games. His preferred tactic was to wave the defence forward and then throw the ball out to a heavily marked winger who'd lose the ball and leave a 4 on 2 situation at the back.

"You'll get your win bonus next week" he'd say afterwards, knowing that a fix was on the other way the following week.
I'd say it was definately NOT Baines at the back row... looks more like Ally hunter?

Was away last week so just catching up - Guy in back row is definitely Ally hunter not Baines as per the caption - I don't think Baines is in that pic.

Yep they seriously over crowded the ground without a care in world.
Lucky for every one on the terraces that day that the fences at Celtic Park were easy to climb over.
The ones 11 months later at Hillsborough weren't.
I was in the Jungle directly under the TV gantry for the first half, moved to the left for the second because we were getting very badly crushed.
Simply put if you were on the terraces that day you dodged a bullet.
Agreed.

Looking back it was a miracle there were no fatalities.

But for the grace of God that bunch of doddering old fools would have has blood on their hands and sent to jail.

I'm not being hysterical about it either. Anyone who was there will agree.
The two SC finals at '85 and '88 were even scarier
