I've had the pleasure of speaking to many of the 4-2 team recently and a fire still burns in them. The fact that current players will not attend CSC functions is nohing sort of scandalous.
Agree with that st.a - It also burns with the QSG as evidenced by Kds's Paul Dykes's book but Celtic just don't see it would benefit the Club to utilise these guys. Nowadays the Club think having a few ex players hosting the Toffs and Stevie covering the Pools table (which may not happen for much longer) is all they have to do. I have had it out with them in Celtic Park about it (and am going back to try again) but afaics there are only two guys who get it but they come back that they are hitting their heads against a brick wall - Joe Miller has set up a long overdue Player's Association and he seems willing to help but he freely admits he has met obstacles which just shouldn't happen - He should be given all the help he needs. They play up the History when it suits but very few fall for that these days - To give an example when Jimmy McGrory died in 1982 other than cancelling his Celtic View within a week of his death nobody from Celtic had been anywhere near the family in 30 years - We are talking probably Celtic's Greatest Ever Player and they dgaf - When Celtic Graves approached James McGrory Jnr about commemorating his Father on the 30th Anniversary it was totally negative initially until he was convinced and satisfied that Celtic Graves had nothing to do with the Club - From there on it was a case of nursing the McGrory family along with the help of Pat Woods and John Cairney whom they trusted - At the Commemoration itself a Celtic Employee who was asked to speak on behalf of the Club had the cojones and put his head above the parapet and admitted in his speech that the McGrory family had been wronged and that this was a wrong that was now put right thanks to CGS not Celtic - Long story cut short but it was emphasised to Celtic not to let the link with the McGrory's be broken again now that it had been re-established and the family were onside again - That was coming up two years ago and the family have never heard form Celtic since. This same scenario can be applied to many in recent years from players up to and including the Marist Brothers. They have and are continuing to feck up. That truly is head in hands stuff. Shocking from Celtic. No excuses.

I`m not a big fan of endless rows of statues appearing outside the front door, but surely Celtic could commission some sort of monument in the stadium "footprint" for the great Jimmy McGrory.

It is very difficult to state who our greatest player was, Maley, Quinn, McMenemy, McNair, Gallacher, Thomson, Johnstone , Murdoch etc.
James McGrory is very much included within that group, how his name has been ignored by our club is a tragedy, are the powers within the club true Celtic fans?

Its been far too long since this iconic display was on show for all to see.
