Glasgow Road - this image you have posted is of great interest to me. If I am seeing this properly, it shows the season as 1935-36 and is headed up as an "Official Programme". The reason for my interest is that one of my most treaured Celtic possessions is an Official Programme from a game against Rangers played on 1 January 1946. The reason why I have always treasured this document - which was passed on to me by an older relative - is that on the inside page, under the heading "Club Gossip", it says the following:-
"Today we publish the first issue of an official programme, an innovation by the club which, we feel sure, will meet with the wholehearted approval of our supporters. At any rate we shall welcome the opportunity of telling you, through our programme, the latest happenings in the football world as they affect the Celtic club. It will help us to be more in personal touch with you all. Perhaps it is fitting that we should introduce this programme on the first day of a New Year when we have our great rivals the Rangers F.C. first footing us."

The wording of this paragraph certainly seems to imply that this is indeed the first ever Official Programme, hence the reason why I have always treasured it but now you have published something that looks as if there was an official one back in 1935, which doesn't really make any sense when you read the paragraph above.

Can you throw any light on this? (Also, if you can explain how you post an image into this site I would gladly put my programme on to let you see it.)
I have a feeling this may be a 'Hearts' programme, but then again it is Green :ponder: I have tried to expand the image but it makes the text blurred :(

Pop over to the photography thread, there is a step by step instruction of how to upload images

Hope this helps, bit of programme history  :

Some Celtic Programme Collectors and many other collectors may still be confused as to when Celtic F. C. actually introduced a match programme for the first time. Programmes do exist from pre-war, the earliest known is v Heart of Midlothian on 10th August 1929. These issues were produced by an independant company up to and including season 1939-40.

For the visit of Rangers to Celtic Park on the 1st January 1946, a four page programme was issued and the editorial made the following claim:
'Today we publish the first issue of an official programme, an innovation by the club which we feel sure will meet the wholehearted approval of our Supporters'

No other issues were seen in the remainder of that season.

Almost a full twelve months later on 12th December 1946, in an eight page programme for the visit of Clyde, a paragraph in the editorial read:
'We are pleased to present our first official since the war which will in future be published every Saturday the first team are playing at home'

The Club kept their word and a programme appeared on every Saturday for the remainder of the season (I personally take the Clyde issue as the first official programme).

Season 1947-48 saw Celtic issue for every game except one (v Queen's Park) and the following season again had only one omission. For the visit of Hibernian on the 11th September 1948, a special 12 page programme was issued, priced 3d. It was dedicated to the memory of John Thomson and all the proceeds from the sales were to go to charity. On page 3 there was an interesting article titled 'How I signed John Thomson' by Steve Callaghan, a Celtic Scout.
Many thanks for that. Really interesting to read all that Programme history. I think I'll keep counting my 1946 one as the first ever official programme. After all, I have been boasting about this to my family for years and I'm not going to withdraw my claim now!

I've seen the programme for the August 1929 match v Hearts (2-1 to Celtic) in which Chairman Tom White in his introduction describes it as the first ever official programme.
This was the game when the Main Stand was opened, (a stand that was to last until 1971), and is still intact apart from the roof and the re seating.

This is the FKS sticker collection for 1970 which is an album of English players plus players from that years ECF which explains why we're in it.

They're not even real stickers you had to wet them into the album like a stamp.
The Feyenoord player is Wim Jansen.

No idea who the other guys are. ;)

Somewhere in a previous post i mentioned the newly formed Celtic Supporters Associaton early attempts to push the old Celtic board on the programme front.
In the aftermath of WW2 the CSA approached the board with the idea of a programme for all Celtic home games.
They were looking for a programme with a couple of pages on the team, managers view of the last game, supporters info and small things like the half time scores.
After waiting on an answer for a couple months the CSA asked for a response to which the 1940s board replied that they didn't think there was a market for a programme at every home game.
No problem says the CSA, don't mind if we go ahead and produce one.
And at that the old board said, just leave it with us and the rest is history.
We'll never know if it was just the few pounds profit that the 1940s board were bothered about or maybe the thought of the support having ideas above their station.
Maybe it was both.

I don't recall ANY keeper ever saving one of TG's penalties. I saw him balloon one over the bar, away v Killie.
Keepers just didn't save them, it was a blur from the second he hit it. Best Celtic penalty taker I ever saw.
Samaras should watch some old videos..... ;)

From memory I'm sure Cruickshank saved this penalty from Big Tam in March 1970 on the day we won 5 in a row at Tynecastle. Game finished 0-0.

If you look at the picture it is signed by Cruickshank which would lead me to think this is the case.

EDIT - http://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/1970-03-28%3A+Heart+of+Midlothian+0-0+Celtic%2C+League+Division+1

Cruickshank saved Gemmell penalty in 50 minutes.

The WIKI to the rescue again !

Bobby Reid of Raith Rovers once made a double save from a TG penalty at Starks Park... and Big Tam got plenty of power on the rebound as well.

Wee Gordo is attacked by a Jungle looney in November 1980.

Eddie Pearson (Glen Tim Tim) will kill me for showing you this but he was only a daft boy back then.

He's better behaved these days. ;)
