Have to say I detested Gascoigne but I saw him recently on TV and he looked like a man of eighty, you can only feel sorry for the guy.

Didn't like that shirt, looked like a Kerry GAA jersey and until Donegal bring home the Sam Maguire Cup tomorrow, this Limerick man belongs to Donegal :thumbsup:

When and where Elvis.
Good question GU and you forced me to do a bit of research, giving up on the last fifteen minutes of the Man City game :arrr: :lol:

It seems there were many matches played between a British army selection and many Scottish clubs (the old huns as you would expect feature a lot) as well as Scotland & NI selections during the 50's.
There were six games between NI & the army and I am ruling out two because they occured after CT ceased playing for the international huns.

I have narrowed this game down to three fixtures due to the history of the ref Capt CH Dennis who according to the army football website retired shortly after these matches were played.
The three dates and venues are;

Ireland or Ireland XI (i.e. Irish FA)
v British Army, Wed 10th Sep 1952 @ Belfast
v British Army, Wed 21st Mar 1956 @ Preston
v British Army, Wed 24th Oct 1956 @ Belfast

Thats the best I can do.
There are many brains on this thread and I'm certainly not one of them :lol:

I'm with you now, the other games played by the NI select were as follows;

v British Army, Wed 20 Nov 1957 @ Leeds
v British Army, Wed 11th Mar 1959 @ Belfast
v British Army, Wed 4th May 1960 @ Belfast (Peacock of Celtic, Lowry of Falkirk featured)

The Army football website stated that CH Denis retired late '56 which is why I ruled out these three.
Did CT retire from NI in '59?
Also wasn't he injured for the WC in '58 according to the Wiki?
