Odd photo that one.
At a guess I would say it's close season or pre season 1990, only because the training tops look like they are from that time and there is no advertising in front of the terracing, that was installed during 90/91.
But it looks like the terracing has no barriers, suggesting they were being renewed so maybe someone can date that.
Summer of 94.

You sure?
I thought we had things like crests and sponsorship all round the tunnel by that time, also pretty sure the main stand seats were all green after 92.
94 was the summer the old stadium was demolished and that happened very quickly, so who would be training on the pitch just before the bulldozers moved in?

V Patrick Thistle, I think.
Two would be huns and one would be Celt playing for Thistle there.

Look at the size of that crowd
Sure we lost 1-0 that day, Doug Somner goal I think

From memory I think there were 22,000 at the game

1978 ?
Vic Davidson is in that photo so that is the 2-1 win in May 1979 which was played on a May day bank holiday.

Just a couple of weeks before the 4-2 game

Good point Boretim. Very unusual to see the Tango ball in Scottish football although Rangers used it for a season.

You are correct

The game I recalled was actually on 8th Oct 1977

We went down 1-0, there was a terracing battle under the shed, now Jackie Husband Stand, and bizarrely there were 26,000 in attendance.

We had a poor team that season, but a massive away support.

I remember it well.

I was playing youth football in Castlemilk and on the way home we were all saying at least we'll beat Thistle then got home to hear the news :ffs:

Reason I remember the terracing battle was that I`d taken my younger brother to his first away match and I`d left him on the wall down the front.

A fecking moron, who was with my group of pals, decided to pap a can in a random direction, next minute it was raining cans and bottles either way and cue me having to dodge the cans and get down the front to rescue my young brother before the crowd overspilled.

Happy Days

Found in Andy C's outstanding collection....(From the Celtic Graves and this parish)

The 1891/92 team.
Standing in front of the pavillion at the original Celtic Park?

I'm interested in what is behind Willie Maley's head?
The fence seems to have a gate doubled back, possibly the entrance to the "tunnel"?
Is that a diagonal stairway to the "Director's Box" which was directly above the tunnel?
It seems to stop halfway.

Is the picture taken at X below?

Nice one Andy Cad

Got to agree with your thinking boss, its a good find even if the pic was not taken at our first ground.

A wee bit surprised to see Johnny Coleman and Tom Maley in that line-up, (Dowds, Gallacher or Madden would have been more appropriate) can only assume they were not around the ground to get their photos took. Coleman never played in any of the triple cup matches with Maley only playing in one Glasgow Cup match.

History does show us that Tom Maley did won a Silver Medal for winning the 3 cups but it must have
been for his administration skills as Vice President and not for what he did on the playing field that season.
