Jimmy Delaney @ Cliftonhill 1937 :hmmm:

The 1937 Scottish Cup run when we eventually beat Aberdeen 2-1 in the final in front of a crowd of 146,433 paying customers, we played Stenhousemuir in the 1st Round but Delaney never played so that rules that out. In the next round we came up against Albion Rovers and Delaney did play so i am pretty sure that's the game where the photograph was taken. (Delaney scored)

That type of shed was used in many Scottish grounds and the similarities between Ochilview and Cliftonhill are quite remarkable with both having similar sheds and dog racing tracks in 1937.

It was one of a series of slides (18 in total) put up for sale on ebay last month, I have been posting them over the last month after a quick tidy up on picasa, I have no knowledge of the history behind them, that is way above my abilities i'm afraid. I still have about eight more to post.
Its uncanny but 3 members from this very forum and the Celtic Graves are now the custodians of almost all them glass lantern slides that relate to our club. I have about a dozen in my possession but not the Delaney one.

The plan is they will all eventually appear in the Celtic museum  hopefully that's in my lifetime :naught:

Interesting to see Robert Gordon Campbell in the line-up, who was one of the very few who played for both rangers and Celtic. He went onto be a rangers captain and in later years he also served them as a director.

He began his career with Queen's Park in 1904 and transferred to Celtic in June 1905, going on to make 11 appearances for them. He might well have remained with Celtic but for an injury crisis at ibrox in 1906 which prompted a raid on the transfer market, with Celtic happy to let him go for £350. Campbell remained at ibrox until 1914 when he joined Kilmarnock, (given a benefit match crowd 5000 against Celtic in 1912) Later playing for Ayr United before his retirement in 1917. He returned to ibrox in October 1926 when he joined the board of directors.
