Does anyone know what exactly happened to the League of the Cross as an organisation? Was it disbanded or did it just die off gradually? I 've asked loads of old-timers but no-one remembers, so I guess it must have been well before WW2. Possibly it might have had something to do with the temperance referenda around 1920 or 1921, which gave each district in Glasgow and surrounding towns the choice of going 'wet' or 'dry'. That could have killed off the temperance debate, but I just don't know.

Ever wondered why you can't get a drink near Hampden Park? Crosshill voted to go 'dry'.
Linthouse was a dry area until the 1960's. Until then you had to go into Govan.

There was a league of the cross when I was a boy in St Anthonys. Mostly old guys and the woman were in the Legion of Mary.

I think Linthouse may have been dry for a different reason - there were munitions factories in Linthouse and Cardonald (also dry). Getting rat-arsed and lighting up a fag could have ruined your entire day!

Pardon me for asking, but when were you a boy at St Anthony's? A rough date would help me find out when the League ceased to be.

On this day 1971 Rangers 2-3 Celtic.

Third win at Ibrox in only four weeks.

Jinky :worthy:
Nice clipping but I've got the highlights of this game and that photo is not of Dalglish's goal.
