My favourite shirt, I will admit it looks better on her than me.
A young Lee Westwood on the right.

Superb stuff there CI :worthy:

A few observations:

1. St Anthony's league of the cross football club (!!!) Wonder when they dropped the league of the cross ?

2. The league hall where the party took place is still standing, just off Harmony Row in Govan. Last I knew it was a carpet warehouse.

3. The new ground is said to have been in Broomloan Road whereas the old Moore Park that we recall was in Helen street. Wonder if it was a different site ?

4. Canon McBrearty was some man. There is a huge plaque to his memory in St Anthony's parish on the Govan Road for helping build the parish.

5. There was a huge Irish Catholic population in Govan in those days. The IRA C Coy was based in Govan and Kinning Park from 1918-1923 and drilled in Boilermakers Hall, later hall in Queen Street (now Neptune Street).

Many Celtic fans will recall having a drink in the old Ants' social club before games at Ibrox.

Even now, after all these years, and all I've learned about footballers, I still can't believe that any Celtic "supporter" who had played for the club would sign for that mob and do it in the way that he did.
