Burley is a pain in the ass but I am thankful for his many goals when we stopped the 10.
Aye- he did a good job for us.
He did, he was excellent that season.

He's a Grade A Bawbag now though.

Interesting reading through the Inner Sanctum book, which is the story of that season, Burley was basically the social linchpin for all off field activities, really pulled us all together as a team, nights out, golf trips etc etc.

Why he is the way he is now, who knows.

Think that could be an inter league game at Everton or Sunderland.

I don't think Tully is in it either.

Just watched that Easter Road footage - took me back

As if I wasn't depressed enough after last night :nono:

as we've said before on this thread, the 77-78 season was a nightmare and not the one to go to every game but you can't choose these things and it really did make the good times that came later, much sweeter.

Oh and two-goal Tony Higgins is a huge Celtic fan.
77-78 season I actually did go to every game

It felt like a duty, or a pennance to go and see us humped on a regular basis

We might have been piss poor but the team never stopped trying, couldnt fault them for that, we just didnt have it

Fans were fantastic all season and still travelled in huge numbers
That was more or less my first season going to away games regularly with my mates. Some great memories despite the performance of the team. But hey, those days following Celtic was more than about the football.

This game was particularly memorable and had BBJ and Lawelll been around then they would have called for capital punishment for some of our supporters that day. EL D bottles flying in all directions , and that was only on the team bus leaving Glasgow :naught:

Was there anything significant about that game ? I seemed to remember we had to win. Was it our last chance to close the gap at the top, or were we well out of it by then?

I dont think we were ever "in it" that season

Sadly that day at Easter Rd was just typical of the season as a whole, I think we were almost immune to losing so many games.

Would I be right in thinking that the game was our last chance of qualifying for Europe? We ended up in Anglo Scottish and that wonderful trip to Burnley.

That's no Tully and that's no Celtic.
He got the Ibrox bit right cos it's Scottish polis.

It may be Belfast Celtic but doubt they've played at Ibrox so it might be the Celtic Reserves.
