0-3 defeat at Ibrox 1980.

The Govan stand was in the process of being built which you can see.

Provan is setting about Willie Johnston who was a nasty character.

They had a few clashes back then especially when Johnston was a at Hearts.
Cheers, i think :)

Dundee utd also beat psv Eindhoven in holland that night to go through. A great era for scottish football- despite a weak rangers

That looks like Ian Redford to me in that pic.

Not sure if Provan played against that wee bassa when he was at Rangers ?

Probably wrong again

edit: looking again, it is Johnston :(

yeah, I'm sure I recall Johnston drawing Provan over before taking a throw in in the lst minute at Parkhead... Provan tried to block the throw leaving Alex Miller unmarked who promptly fired in into the net :(

That description of the throw in and Alex Miller's goal still gives me the boak. That was ma first Celtic v Rangers game, 1977 or 78 it was and Miller's last minute 25 yarder from the throw in on the Jungle side was their first win at CP in a few years, 2-1 it was.

Years later Alex Miller drove the ice cream van doon ma way but despite the sound of the icey being the only respite in those days, the carrot was gettin feck all aff me.

It was 1980 and was DeidCo's first win at Celtic Park in the Premier Division - their next one was in 1989.
