Hampden 1937. 150,000 capacity.

C I is this plans for the new north stand and extension to Celtic end .
Spot on sur.
Apparrantly brought the capacity up to 183,000 but rounded down to 150,000 for safety.

:twitch:
The capacity was officially rated at 184,500 (give or take a few) if the crowd were allowed to stand in the gangways. Now imagine the times when you could barely breathe and know that you had the equivalent of the entire populations of Dundee and Perth in the one place. The Leeds Semi Final put the fear of god into the authorities. I would state that every big crowd at Hampden is underestimated by at least 20,000.

William 'Junior' Omand who played CF for QPFC in the 60s said he was outside the Celtic End at a big game in the early 60s. The Celtic fans had made a stairs out of beer crates and were going over the wall at a rate of knots. The police did not intervene because it was better for them that fans were in the ground rather than roaming the streets.

Best one i've seen of the tricolour at Celtic Park. Kilmarnock player, 1937.

Wonder if that's my granda!

He played 15 games for Kilmarnock in 1936-37 season and I think one of them was at Parkhead.

Tbf, I don't think it is him. I've seen a photo of him as an older guy. I thought Killie had vertical stripes then too?

Edit, just looked up some other pics, it was horizontal stripes/hoops that they played in then.
