Bad day for Simon & Jackie but they nearly threw it away against the new huns so I for one won't begrudge the Saints their victory.

This is an image that has always fascinated me in the sense that it apprears a match was decided by a toss of a coin, surely as a player you would want to win on the field proving you are better rather than a coin toss from a friendly mason? can the experts tell me anything about this particular match?
There was a Glasgow Charities Cup game in the early 1960's against the cheating deid effwits which ended 1-1 - It was decided on the toss of a coin - Quelle Surprise they won it. :suspect:

Paddy and Neilly don't look too enamoured.

I find that stunning CB to be honest with you, to decide a match you put everything into by a toss of a coin, seems crazy, no skill factor required at all and as you say the mason probably using a two headed coin. Just plain crazy, do you know if this was in play down South?

No idea about down South ce.

We once beat Benfica in the European Cup on a toss of the coin - It was 3-0 to us at Celtic Park and 3-0 to Benfica over there - There was a toss of the coin in the dressing room and Cesar called it right over Coluna - Sir Bob Kelly actually took a complaint to UEFA about as to how ridiculous it was deciding such important games on the toss of a coin - He felt as we had won it it vindicated his complaint in that it was not a bad loser complaining over the toss of a coin.

The deid bassas also got a toss of a coin result in Europe against Zaragosa sometime in the 1960's.

I was at it as well as the '92 & '94 friendly's, I remember the last one (2-3 to us) as being an entertaining game but the other two weren't up to much

In all fairness CB the Benefica result (I forgot about that) was totally different, that was us getting the luck

There's a story about Der hun that on the way to being the first club awarded a European trophy in a toilet and of course the first Scottish club banned from Europe (so many world records) they actually thought they had been put out, can't remember who they were playing (or even the scores) but basically the ref didn't know the new away goals rule and started a penalty shoot out which they lost, only for UEFA to over turn the result a day later. Not a popular decision with the Catalan people as it would turn out.

Always irritates me when I hear the pundits say that penalties are a lottery . He'll of a lot better than the coin toss!
