One of my favourite games as a boy
Remembered listening to the game on the radio. Was it televised because I don't remember seeing the highlights?
There was a massive crush at the turnstile prior to this game.

My Dad reckoned he was close to breathing his last and somehow managed to get me passed over the crowd and through into the ground.

Crowd given at over 40,000 for a game at Easter Rd.
Official attendance 48,000 and 40,000of them estimated to us.

Easter Road was a sea of green and whir after that game and not a Hibs scarf in sight.

About 45k ! Place was mobbed, not a space to be had.

In those days as well official attendance were notoriously in accurate as you had kids getting lifted in, double shuffles at the turnstiles and unscrupulous turnstile attendants who line their own pockets.

in this week with the Hillsborough Anniversary in mind the safety of fans really wasn't thought of back then was it? I remember really scary moments especially at Love Street one Wednesday night and at Airdrie in the cup where you were so crammed in it was ridiculous! At Airdrie we got in the ground and could not even get onto the terracing it was so packed .

Quite apt considering the OP.
'Clapton' is footballs biggest Elvis fan, Frank Worthington.

Not really old pictures, but Pathe News has put their entire archive on Youtube. Some great Celtic stuff on there with that trademark Pathe commentary. Good quality vid too.
