Bing Crosby with John McPhail and the bhoys 1950.

There's a cracking story to go with this picture.

Celtic were on our way to Rome to play Lazio in 1950 by train (we left Glasgow on May 24th and arrived in Rome 4 days later) when Bing Crosby was on the same sailing from Dover to Ostend on May 25th on board the Royal Albert.
He proved a very pleasant travelling companion posing for many pictures and signing hundreds of autographs and even singing his version of "I belong to Glasgow"!

Bing Crosby CSC

About 10/15 years ago i was approached on a Sunday morning by an old timer looking for directions outside ibrox subway.
I told him i'd show him the street he was looking for and in passing he ask me if i liked football, not a big deal considering we were about 200 yards away from that lots stadium.
Pointed out i was a Celtic supporter and at that he said "i played for the Celtic"
I asked him his name and he seemed shocked a punter 40 years his junior knew of him.
Even more so when i mention a game from the 1940's at Dundee and the goals he scored that day were as much a part of Celtic history as those scored in Lisbon.
The man was Jock Weir.
I was proud to say i had met him.

That's a brilliant story Yogi and one that has to be passed down the generations and kept.
