Don't think Joe McBride was still at CP at the time of the Ibrox disaster -might be wrong though!
Joe was with Celtic from 1956-68; opposition looks like Clyde - if so, then these are the only two possible games in that time frame:

11 September 1965: League - 2-1

17 August 1966: LC - 6-0.

NB: Joe never played against Clyde at CP in the Glasgow Cup

It was me who put this on the wiki - I have the original press pic at home.

Definitely Aug 66 but I've looked up news.google,com/newspapers and there is no mention of why the black arm bands were worn.

It's not for Harry Roberts shooting the three policemen in England is it? It was 5 or 6 days before, I was very young and can still remember it and the subsequent manhunt. Roberts is still in jail.

I might be wrong though.

I think your spot on with that, had a look on google, no other significant events at that time.Roberts carried out those murders on 12 AUG 1966, which would tie in with the black armbands.

I take it that was the new press box before they put the glass front on it?
I assume the laptop loyal had complained about the cold?

As far as I'm aware it always had glass in it.
It had glass at the front, yes, but only a wee short panel.
