I've got a perverse infatuation with all things from the Centenary Year. I would have been 9 turning 10 at the time and is the earliest season i can remember fairly well. My father took me infrequently from '84 but was far to young to remember those seasons. The only memories i have from that far back are Dumbarton were in the League and humping Brechin City 7-1 in the League Cup at some point.

My first OF match that year, took two days to travel to Glasgow (car, bus, ferry, bus, train, bus and the same on the way back) but it was worth it, 2-0 win

I was thinking that myself only because he looks like his brother. Was John McCluskey not meant to be better than his brother.

Sorry, but Dumbarton weren't in the League, the promoted team that season was Morton, we did beat Dumbarton in the League Cup, the Wednesday before the first derby game, we beat Forfar the round before. Don't remember us beating Brechin that season.
Meanwhile that photo features a nice show of Adidas Samba from Mr Steele.

Not John McCluskey (Friar), no. The mighty Friar was the better of the two but an unfulfilled talent.
From a Holy Cross witness.
