Kelly always hid his right hand due I think to a deformity.
Didn't realise that. I knew Desmond white had a Problem with an arm.

This is either the New Year's Celtic v Rangers game or the Scotland v England game in April 1898.

The lack of the iron railings that went up around the terracing and stand for the Scotland v England match that year point to it being the Celtic v Rangers match.
That game was postponed with the score at 1-1 due to the packed ground spilling onto the pitch time after time.

This (and previous "break ins at earlier Scotland v England games at CP) led the SFA to insist on the railings to keep the crowd back.

On the other hand a supporter in the foreground appears to be wearing a Glengarry hat, i think it might be called, which is seen at Scotland matches.

The strips don't give anything away as we would have been in the stripes with Rangers in blue.
Scotland would have been in blue against England's white but the strips look more like stripes v whites.

The big story of the Celtic v Rangers game was the break in which got the game called off so i would've imagined the sketch would have featured this instead of a goalmouth shot.

There seems to be a line from the two flag poles on top of the pavillion to the flag pole on top of the Janefield St stand.
That might've been to do with sending telegrams which woulda been used at the Scotland v England game.

So is it the Scotland v England game or the Celtic v Rangers game?
Ma hunch would be the former.

What's the occasion here? Looks to have been taken around 1988 going with the current players in it and Tommy Burns spectacles.
I've checked my Centenary Archive and this is from the CSA Centenary Dance in the Normandy Hotel, Renfrew.

Poem from Bobby's funeral yesterday, RIP Wee Barra
In a green and white jersey Bobby ran for many a mile
And brought with each performance many a broad smile
Much loved by each green and white scarfed Celtic son
The memory, oh the blessed memory
Cetic 7-1 Rangers !

65 never went to Stobhill.

Went from Govan Road to Riddrie via places like the Gorbals, Brigton Cross, Bellgrove, Duke St, Cumbernauld Road, Terminus at Barlinnie.

I'll go with the hun game, just to romanticise my mind that it's us, and those flags are emerald green with gold harps

Got it many a time from Craigton Road in Govan.

For some reason I thought it stopped at Stobhill.

We nicknamed it 'the bees' hive' as it was always mobbed on route to Parkhead.

Passing through Brigton could be a hassle though...... :(

Think your bang on regarding its either from a game against them or SvE as only they matches drew anywhere near 40,000 plus in 1898.

Cant agree with it being Scotland because of him wearing a Glengarry, Remember sojurs got in for nothing when wearing their uniforms. http://celticgraves.com/topic/9951889/1/

Cant understand why the sketcher would go to the bother to give us the vertical stripes and put the other team in what appears to be white?

A wee bit different from the norm we have seen with the added info
Sit in 121 and the same fekin pole is still there blocking my view to the centre of the pitch. (end of Main Stand/Celtic End)
Gets me a couple of quid of my tickets though

If it is Owen I would hazard a guess that the two tops are from 5-0 at Love Street when we won the league and the 3-1 game from April 4th 1987 when he scored THAT goal against the hun.
Looks like he might have his league winners medal in the frame as well.
