The game from that film was Celtic 1-2 Ayr on 24 April 1976.

That result with Rangers' win at Tannadice meant that they won the league that day. :rocker:

Out of interest I am sure I'm right in saying that Brotherhood of Man won the Eurovision song contest that night.

Save all your kisses for me right enough....
And a couple of weeks later we played Ayr Utd away whilst the huns won the Scottish Cup v Hearts in front of 85000.

Ayr Utd away

Cheers for that, one of only a dozen or so games I saw as a kid before moving out of Scotland. Johnny Doyle scored and was magnificent that day; we were losing at half-time and if my memory isn't playing tricks on me King Kenny scored at least two

Almost certainly this was a League cup game at parkhead which we won 1-0 Willie Wallace scoring, went onto win it 6-2 against Hibs, could be Jim Brogan or Big Willie as both played, think its big willie going by the ear, still wondering who that celtic player in the background is?

edit} looks like Cattanach, maybe he came on as sub
Might it not be the league game that they won 4-2 in September the same year? Johnston tore us a new one that day.

Not sure who scored it, maybe Tommy Ring, but I'm sure it came in direct from a corner.

Getting all  thinking about The Jungle there.
Jungle-schmungle; my mates and I used to stand under the area sprayed bright green. The ambience was much more convivial and appropriate for savouring the African continent's finest firewater. :i_say:

Bit different this one and not player or game based.

This is parish members of St. Bernadette's Motherwell with the Coronation Cup loaned by Celtic for a charity football match to raise funds in aid of a parish refurb.

Just wondered if there were any Motherwell/Craigneuk/Carfin Bhoys who might recognise anyone

dont know anybody in picture but the stadium is the old speedway track down at the globe in motherwell
funnily enough it was known locally as "the stadium".
Don't recognise anyone unfortunately.

EDIT - bottom right - possibly Jimmy Griffin - my dad's cousin.

Nice to see Celtic keepers being heroically terrible through the ages.

Front right is indeed my dad's cousin Jimmy Griffin. I am told the priest is Canon Duddy. Trying to identify some others through other members of the family.

Thats the best about these type of pic threads Otis

IMO it all boils down to who is the No.8 and i think its Alex Ferguson

No.8 for the huns in the 1-0 league cup game at parkhead was Alex Ferguson

No.8 for the huns in the league 4-2 game at parkhead was Andy Penman

Interesting to see you thought the No.8 was Dave Smith who did not play in the 4-2 game and wore No.10 in the 1-0 game. :nono:
