Can't think why we would be playing St. Johnstone at Firhill. :ponder: Could it be either Clyde or Hamilton Accies in a change strip?

Dalglish grabs the headlines again with a spectacular hat trick in an entertaining game. Stein ponders how to keep Johnstone, Hood, Wallace, Lennox, Hughes, Macari, Dalglish and Davidson all happy as they fight for places up front.

Celtic offer to play League cup tie against Rangers on August 14th at Ibrox as the Parkhead main stand is still under construction and will not get a safety certificate. Rangers say they want no unfair advantage and want to play behind closed doors ! Scottish League eventually rule that game will go to Ibrox.

Teams
Celtic:- Marshall Craig Brogan Hay McNeill Connelly Dalglish Callaghan Macari Davidson Hughes Subs: Hood Williams

Goals:- Dalglish 61, 66, 83 Macari 72

St Johnstone:- Donaldson Lambie Coburn Gordon Rennie Rooney Aird Hall Connolly McPhee Aitken Subs: Robertson Pearson

Goals:- Aitken 43 Pearson 54

Att:- 30,000

Boavista 75? The first time we wore the numbers on the back?
You're right about Boavista, well spotted!

You can just see a wee bit of their black and checked shirts on the sleeve of guy on left.

Great night, magic atmosphere. Almost 40,000 in. Dixie got the last in 3-1 win after we'd drawn 0-0 there (presume this is goal and killed them off, which is why everyone went mad).

We were good enough to get to final of Cup Winners Cup that year - West Ham did - but lost to really poor East German side Zwickau in quarter finals

30,000 for a Dryborough cup semi final! What I would give for a forward line like that!

I had commented before that I vaguely remembered that game. I knew it stuck in my head we came from behind, but I didn't realise we were 2-0 down 15 mins into second half. The Drybrough cup, then, was more popular than the league cup is now.If Carlsberg done internet forum threads this one would be the best in the world.
