Celtic V Cologne 1992.
Great night, 2-0 down after the first leg and a 3-0 win at Celtic Park.

I think they had the German world cup winner, Bodo Ilgner (spelling?) in goals that night

Another one Barnes' brilliant signings. Came in for Gould for a few games after losing in cup to ITC but bringing him up from Chelsea on big wages to be No2 was nonsense. And never trust a keeper who wears tracky trousers :ffs:

Relaxing in Bermuda, probably discussing switching from the diamond to the triangle formation, if you get my drift :ph43r:

Love this picture. Has an almost menacing, mafia-style look to it. :rocker:

The wailing wall o Janefield Street ... well it looks like that tae me :(

Was near the cause of fatal injuries to supporters, said many a prayer in my youth while nearly squashed to death against that thing.

Image probably taken near the big gates east of the jungle, Willie Wallace by the looks o him.
Is that not the wall at the old Belvedere Hospital, which was between CP and Barrowfield? :ponder:
It's the High st. Look at the bullet holes :suspect:

I think this a league game in the Hampden season. Paul Byrne scored for us, but we lost 3-1

I went up to CP a few times to see the stands going up.
Huge numbers of people were there at the weekends.

Sorry to hear that, genuinely gutted it was something that the Ants were quite rightly proud of.Shame.

Keep up the good work with historical stuff,an excellant resource for Junior stats and facts.
Same here and welcome Antshistory  Always a pleasure to read your posts on the Celtic Wiki ... many a wee nugget i have found in your knowledge of the Ants and Junior fitba in general.
Thanks for the compliments guys.

Although we didn't give the hoops to Celtic, there is a good chance that our first set of hooped jerseys came from Parkhead. We got several donations of 'equipment' from Celtic pre WW1. It's highly likely that these included strips, although the only items actually named in the articles I read were goal nets, years before they were compulsory for the Juniors.

Everyone at the Ants is proud of the fact that around 60 of our players have signed contracts for Celtic over the years.... McColl, McInally, McKay, Gilchrist, Hilley, MacDonald, Evans, O'Neill etc. In addition, there was scout Steve Callaghan and the legendary Jimmy Gribben, without whom Jock Stein would never have become a Celt and Jimmy Johnstone would have been freed as a youth. Something at Celtic Park - or more appropriately Lennoxtown - really should be named after Gribben. :worthy:
