Scottish national team, need help with the year?
Great picsElvis :thumbsup:
this is a shot in the dark. Think it has to be early 50s. I assume with the bags it's a train station and maybe off to Wembley.

Only Celt I can see is a youngish Bobby Evans on the left and ex-Deidco boss Willie Waddell lurking in behind. Wiki says last of waddell's caps was in 54, so maybe this is Wembley 1953.

If that's the case then it was a 2-2 draw with Hibs legend Lawrie Reilly getting both Scotland's goals including one in last attack of the game (with Scotland down to 10 men cos on injury - no subs then) and that got him nickname of Last Minute Lawrie.

Only recognise DeidCo's George Young in this pic.

The Scotland keeper in 53 was George Farm, who was boss of Dunfermline when they won Scottish Cup in 1968. Tommy Docherty also played.

If you really want a history lesson, here's link to Pathe News clip of game (2mins long) with the sort of music and commentary that Harry Enfield used to send up :lol:

Don't think that's a Wembley squad; more likely to be one for an away game v. Wales, possibly one of these:

If not Wales, then getting the train to Stranraer for the boat to Larne; mibbes:

http://www.londonhearts.com/scotland/games/19551008.html (most likely, since it's the only one with Evans and Young playing)

I want their parents named and shamed, it's like sending their kids over to pet a crocadile.
Perhaps the parents had heard the story previously posted here about the kind-hearted Goram (not sure which one) who befriend a kds member and his wife on a transatlantic flight. :lol: :lol:

Is it John McPhail between Waddle & Young in the back row?
I thought it was John McPhail too but ruled it out cos he looked slim.

McPhail's last cap in 53-54 v N Ireland. Others against Wales, not England;

which makes Otis's theory more likely;

I think Lawrie Reilly is the guy extreme left (he scored in the games Otis mentioned) but maybe its a bit earlier

Absolutely remarkable. Glasgow doesn't give itself enough credit for its place in football history.

The wailing wall o Janefield Street ... well it looks like that tae me :(

Was near the cause of fatal injuries to supporters, said many a prayer in my youth while nearly squashed to death against that thing.

Image probably taken near the big gates east of the jungle, Willie Wallace by the looks o him.

Lawrie Reilly plus at least 3 huns in it, also 3 Celts in that line-up.

Exclusive proof that the cops are in league with non payers from Govan. Picture shows a few cops attempting to cuddle broxi bear at the bigotdome. Have you ever seen them do likewise to Hoopy? More likely he would be on the receiving end of a stun gun as well as being charged as a card carrying member of the GB :lol:
