Picture was taken by cameraman behind the goal at the Celtic End.
A giant copy of the photo was in the window of Scottish Daily Express??? office in St Vincent St for a week after the game.
Cad had a copy of the newspaper pasted to the wall in Bairds for years.
Nobody seems to be wearing any green and the only scarf you can see is an old school hun scarf.
Wee lad front (2nd right) appears to have one on under his jacket

The Villa Player nearest the camera seems to be Joseph Harry Hampton - Villa's all-time leading goalscorer. Harry was in the Villa teams that won the FA Cup in 1905 and 1913 as well as the League Championship in 1909-10. Both of the FA Cup finals mentioned were played and the Crystal Palace stadium.

In the 1905 final Villa beat Newcastle United 2-0 (Hampton scored both goals) in front of 101,000 people.
In the 1913 final Villa beat Sunderland 1-0 in front of 121,000 people. Until the 1990s this was was the only occasion when the teams that had finished first and second in the league had contested the Final. Sunderland were the League Champions.

The attendances do not stand out when compared the large number of 100,000 plus crowds at Scottish finals but were two of only four FA Cup finals to been seen by more than 100,000 people. The other two finals were 1901 at Crystal Palace (110,00) and 1923 at Wembley (128,000 plus many more).

Hope the above is not too long and is of interest.

Sticking to my guns this time CB
Keep me out of it - I have enough problems.

Think it is Marr and not Jardine but don't think it is McAdam but then it could be him or Somner (with slightly different hairstyle) or at a stretch Glavin so basically feckedifano. ;)
I'm a few pages behind and just catching up with the thread, so apologies if this one has been resolved already.

Is the fella with the big hair not Sandy Frame?

Definitely Joe Dodds - Other Celt could be McNair (albeit a bit too big for him) so maybe Sunny Jim (about the right size).

Agree Villa.
Defo the 1912 Villa game at CP - McNair and Dodds defending the goals is a good shout. (right & left back with Sunny Jim in the background)

A bit puzzled wae the photo so messed about wae it, could it be flipped and that's Delburn/Janefield st tenements on the left?

Fae the same game.

Defo Jungle at the Celtic end for me ,that was a new wall built for the Jungle and both the ends behind
the goals had the wooden green barriers.

It does look like an old Rangers scarf. However, on closer examination it's more like the ould dark green scarf as worn by supporters in my youth. :) It's so nice to see the supporters dressed in shirts and ties. No grown men in football jerseys like a bunch of weans.

Idle curiosity here but is this John McNamara, Jackies dad and former Celt?
Resembles Rodney from Only Fools there when he fell asleep under a sunbed.

Celtic players? I'm going to stay out of this as I would have embarrassed myself with the last one I posted (Clyde)
Donald Watt is second from right.
pretty sure that behind Ian Wallace in the 2nd row is John Burke - Holyrood PE teacher - any ex Holyrood punters confirm?
 after my time at holyrood , but it is john burke
