Recent visitors to CP, while they don't in that picture look like they exactly know where they are  I think they would be great additions to our midfield & strike force.

Gorbals care in the community copper in the 90s.Whits yer name son ,aw haud
on Roddy wit aboot that header ye scored against the huns, [sorry for the glesga talk].
I have a flat Limerick accent and tend to speak quite fast being a salesman and always have a laugh over in Glasgow where I havn't a clue whats being said to me and the other person can't make out what I'm saying. Remember ordering a big mac in a McDonalds in Argyle St and ending up with chicken nuggets
Always liked Roddy. Big honest centre half.
The nickname was always a term of endearment in a less PC age.

On the accents. It always amazes me at family gatherings how much the Irish cousins struggle with the Glasgow accent. We manage fine with theirs but I suppose we were brought up hearing a lot of irish accents every day.

You havn't heard mine  When I worked in Memphis years ago I asked directions at the airport to the bus station and the security guard I asked called over a Spanish interpreter  My wife and kids do the talking when we are in the States, I'm the mute guy in the back

Came across this still in a Norn Iron youth football site where Mick was listed as Captain of Celtic. The other guy of course is Norman Whiteside and the match is an U23 friendly between Ireland and the international version of deadco. Didn't know to my shame Mick was ever captain of Celtic, in the second Irish civil war I was a foot soldier for Mick against the Keaneites.
Good man Elvis.

Never understood Keane's reaction in Saipan.

Irish men (and women) gave their lives that Ireland may take it's place amongst the nations of the world and then he spits his dummy out of the pram because the training facilities were poor..

Still think big Mick would waste him in a square go (Glasgow vernacular for a fight)

Sad thing about big Roddy is that we let him go when he had years left in him and signed Willie Garner instead :ffs:

Always felt the football people backed Mick while the housewives egged on by radio dj's like gerry ryan (he of cocaine up the caboose fame) were bleating on the Keano bandwagon. Even Eamonn Dunphy who was viciously pro Keane admitted he erred too much to the Keane side in 2002. There can only be one manager and you are asking for trouble if your players believe they have as important a say in the teams affairs.

It went beyond football. It was Ireland.....

You may find us mad but in my house we cheer for the Irish at everything. Mind you Mrs Saint is Dublin born.

Also means junior can do an Aiden McGeady in 10 years :rocker:
