I agree there is much we could learn.

It was just a joke FFS. I didn't realise it was trendy to mock American sports.

Although , a more accurate comparison would the WC Final audience. This would not quite support your point. But I understand what your getting at , and agree to a certain extent.
Sorry mate - I just get fed up with folks slagging US sports when we should be trying to learn from them.

The world cup finals probably get similar figures to the NFL but that's only every four years. The Champions League happens every year and also has 32 teams which is why I was comparing them.
I understand totally why you picked the CL and your reasons are valid.

But the CL has always been held on a Wednesday evening , unlike Superbowl Sunday. And it has become a social event to watch it.

So I thought the WC Final was a fairer comparison.
