Spain 1982. no it isn't Denmark beat Uruguay 6-1 in Mexico in 1986 and Germany beat Saudi Arabia 8-0 in 2002 pretty sure that there are a couple more with higher wins than 5-1 just the first two to spring into my mind edit... It's the other way around for me - but only just. After them it's the 1970 WC semi-final between Italy & West Germany. All 3 matches were football at its very best. There was also the 1966 World Cup match between Portugal (Eusebio etc) and North Korea which the Portuguese won 5-3 after being 3-0 down. Football just isn't the same these days. OldGit CSC I'd probably agree re the 1960 EC Final and 1970 WC Final, but rather than the Portugal 5 N Korea 3 game, good as it was, I'd suggest the Hungary 3 Brazil 1, or even the Portugal 3 Brazil 1 games from the 1966 WC. I'd definitely go along with Italy 4 W Germany 3, the 1970 WC Semi - what a game, what a roller-coaster! Riva, Muller, & Rivera were brilliant. Also, the W Ger 4 Peru 2 Q Final from the 1970 WC was excellent, or some of the Dutch total football from the 1970s.

Whilst scrolling down the list what stood out was the number of english games and english national games played. I wonder who gathered the statistics for this? an audience mainly from England, John Motson per chance. How the Celtic v Porto game is so far up the table is questionable, whilst the Celtic v. Inter Milan game is not even in the top 15 is amazing.
