is he still injured? i havent heard anything since he came back from norwich in january

i know his contract is up at the end of this season and im afraid to say this may be the end at celtic for a guy who could have been captain IMO

10 years at the club and just 45 appearences when it could have been so much more

Well no-one can ever say he didn't give it his very best & more......Hope we have him adequately insured to provide both for John himself, his family and the club as he could have been a lynchpin in our defence for many years to come.

I don't know the current situation with him, but having been through so many knee operations, I'd strongly advise him to think long & hard about his future health before anything else.

He`s out for the season at least. From what I remember he was in Colorado again to consult with Dr Steadman to see if surgery is possible or indeed worthwhile. His 4th or 5th operation.

Really is a shame for the boy. :nono:
Ganea

I heard that AC Milan were trying to conclude a deal for him when he got injured, that's how highly he was rated, and not just by us

Travesty for the lad, he could have been one of the all time greats, he had all the attributes,

But Celtic have stood by the lad well over the injury years, contract and medical wise

The guy would be best to retire and be given a job in coaching in some form at Celtic. Having complications later in life to get a couple of seasons - or a handful of games - is not worth it IMO. Very sad we never seen the best of the big man :(

I would love to see the big man back to full fitness and showing the sort of form he displayed prior to the injury. What a boost that would be to him personally and to the team. But time seems to be dragging on and unfortunately, in this case, I don't see it as no news is good news. I hope I am wrong.

If he doesn't regain his fitness, then there will be no footballer more deserving of a testimonial than John Kennedy.
If the worst case scenario comes to pass for the big man, I have every confidence that Celtic will do the right thing by him, and expect the support to respond in kind.

Have to agree, credit to Celtic for the way they've dealt with it. :worthy:

It's a real shame as he looked like he was destined for the top.

Its a real shame for John as he looked like he could be a cracking player and future captain.

That clown Ganea has ruined his foootballing career unfortunatly. :nono: I heard that he is likely to announce his retirement soon but will be kept on at some level. (coaching youths ect). I heard this from someone within the club but it could be untrue. I think it's a matter of playing and undoubtly having more operations or retire. Playing on could mean being crippled later on in life.

I hope something works out for him in football. He deserves a bit of luck

Have to agree, credit to Celtic for holding onto him and paying his medical bills etc.

TBF mate Celtic had to stick by the boy in all fairness. They would have looked terrible had they not.

I remember what John said at the time with regards to Ganea. Now though after everything that has transpired I do believe either JFK or Celtic should be looking at legal action against Ganea for that incident.

Is that realistically possible ?

I wouldn't have thought so. If it was then is it not a bit late to start taking legal action? It happened over 5 years ago now.

FWIW i would love to see Ganea taken for everything he is worth. Animal for what he done

Shocked to see just how few appearances he made, a first-class defender in the making.

Best of luck for the future John.

It's interesting to think what might have been... if he'd been fit then we would probably not have had one or both of Caldwell and McManus the last 3 years. If he'd developed into the player he looked like having the potential to be, he would have been our best youth product in many years.

A real shame.

Sums it up for me. He's tried but it just doesn't look as if it's going to work out for him. Terrible and he seems like one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet as well.

I firmly believe he would have went on to become the Billy McNeil of our time, a colossal centre half who would have been club captain for many a year to come. I agree with Joey in that a testimonial should be put on if he decides to retire. The man has lost out on what would have been a superb career.

Bummer. Hope to god we can give the guy a real send off - Barca? Real? Inter?... like that anyway, he deserves it. As for that romanian scuzzbag...
