There are thousands of Celtic fans down under in Australia, and this will be their first chance
to see the team play over there. It is an untapped market and goldmine for us to tap into to.

First time since 1977.

Hopefully, they don't leave it another 32 years!

Stupid friendly to be taking on. We should have inserted a clause that we could pull it if we didn't win the league. Daft going way down to Australia for a nothing game with the CL qualifiers coming up. Should have played this game at the end of last season.
Apt penance :ph43r:

I think you've had a few too many xxxx. Anyway, if you really cared about Celtic you would move to Scotland and watch them week in week out in the cold, wind and rain. Do that and you deserve a show.

I'll be at Suncorp, shouting and singing my lungs out - think it'll be a great occassion

Brilliant Celtic are playing in Australia. Meanwhile back in Ireland we await the arrival of the reserves.

It really is a fecking disgrace the way Celtic treat Irish supporters. :nono: I've really had enought of it.

Deebhoy
where was the squad announced?
It was announced in a local Brisbane Paper the Couriermail:

The game is on Celtic's Online channel! Channel 67 at 6am

The Couriermail:

Injury paves way for Brisbane Roar to retain Robbie Kruse

MASSIMO Murdocca's broken leg has opened the door for Robbie Kruse to remain a Brisbane Roar player.
Salary cap problems threatened to squeeze Kruse out of the Roar, with the club close to its $2.25 million limit having all but agreed to terms with Scottish import Bob Malcolm.

But with Murdocca sidelined for at least three months, the Roar can sign a injury-replacement player and pay him outside the cap.

That player will almost certainly be attacking weapon Kruse, whose two-year contract expired on June 30.

Brisbane coach Frank Farina has been impressed with Kruse's attitude and commitment during pre-season training.

And provided the one-time boy wonder continues to shine during his injury-replacement stint, Kruse could be offered a fulltime contract, albeit constrained by salary cap limitations, once Murdocca returns.

The Roar hopes to finalise deals for Malcolm and Kruse in the coming days, opening the door for both to be included in Farina's squad for the July 12 Translink Cup clash against Celtic at Suncorp Stadium.

The Scottish giants have named an 18-man squad for the clash, with the notable absentees being injured pair Stephen McManus and Scott Brown.

Also missing are Dutch striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Italian midfielder Massimo Donati, whose futures are in limbo.

But the squad includes Socceroo striker Scott McDonald and a host of internationals, including Artur Boruc (Poland), Andreas Hinkel (Germany), Georgios Samaras (Greece), Gary Caldwell (Scotland) and Aiden McGeady (Ireland).

To Roar playmaker Charlie Miller's delight, the Celtic squad also includes experienced midfielder Barry Robson.

The pair have been friends since childhood and enjoyed stints together at Rangers and Dundee United.

"He's a great boy, Barry," Miller said. "He's just wearing the wrong strip now."

Miller is relishing the prospect of having another opportunity to take on Celtic.

"I didn't think I'd ever get another chance to play against them," he said.
"It's a great game for us as a club and for the city as well. For our young boys to play against Celtic, it's a massive game for them."

Miller continues his comeback after hernia surgery tomorrow when the Roar take on Brisbane Strikers in a behind-closed-doors training match at Ballymore.

Celtic squad: Goalkeepers: Artur Boruc, Lukasz Zaluska. Defenders: Darren O'Dea, Lee Naylor, Glenn Loovens, Gary Caldwell, Andreas Hinkel. Midfielders: Barry Robson, Paddy McCourt, Koki Mizuno, Marc Crosas, Willo Flood. Forwards: Scott McDonald, Shaun Maloney, Aiden McGeady, Georgios Samaras, Ben Hutchinson, Cillian Sheridan.
so basically, they made up the squad from the players they could think of. which is probably the reason they've not included mark brown, john kennedy, massimo donati, or any of the youngsters...

It probably will end up a sell out. Brisbane Roar will be playing in an orange strip
and Celtic in the hoops. I have also heard that Brisbane have offered Celtic
their dressing room.
Sounds like this could turn out to be us against the Quasi Huns Down Under,
with Charlie Miller, Bob FTP Malcolm, Craig Moore & Co :ponder:
