SSN are reporting that Lyon have agreed to sell Karim Benzema to Real Madrid. Fee 50 million euros.

Waiting for more details to come through........

This should be confirmed by Real Madrid later today.

If this goes through they will have an incredible group of players next season.

This will take their summer spending to over 200 million euros :cuckoo:

EDIT: They are now saying the fee is 35/36 million euros.

When will Real learn that defenders strengthen sides too?

Benzemas never worth that much either.

It would appear not.

SSN are reporting that he has agreed a six year deal with Real.

They were talking to that Graham Hunter who reports on La Liga, he commented that Real have an 800 million euro credit line  so this may not be the last of their big signings.

Real need a defence.

Just wait till they get papped out of the CL next season to Liverpool 4-3.

And Barca will probably still win the league.

Haven't they signed Albiol of Valencia?

Defenders simply don't cost as much, don't grab the headlines when you're hoovering up all the world's best attacking players.

Haven't heard much from Platini or Blatter about Real Madrid playing to different financial rules to every other club in the world, strangely enough - they're happy to slag off the Premiership for its concentration of wealth. I simply don't see how they can be making anywhere near enough money to cover all these signings.

Hopefully Real will suffer mass ego clashes and in fighting. Ronaldo slaps Benzema, Kaka sets Jesus on Ronaldo etc. :girlfight: :notmissingthis:

Actually Platini, who's past comments I take it that you're referring to, has been a vocal critic of Real's summer spending.

They've signed Albiol from Valencia and have Garay returning from his loan at Santander.

They will have a phenomenal bunch of players next season, even with the Dutch contingent being sold off.

Hope Madrid fall flat on their faces next season. Ridiculous spending for a club so badly in debt.

Especially with the Dutch contingent being sold off.

Barca must welcome the challenge. Any chance of staleness settling in after a near perfect season will have been blown away by this huge new galactico era.

Thats hardly strengthening their defence like they are attacking-wise, is it?

Out of curiosity, do you think they have a defence capable of winning the champions leauge? I certainly dont.

I think their defence is reasonably strong individually but as a team they're heavy baws at defending.

Their new coach had a very tight defence at Villareal though so perhaps they'll remedy that.

Kaka, Benzema, Ronaldo...not bad. Ad rather have McGeady Maloney and McDonald.
