I can see how my post reads now but I wasn't claiming that Stein started it, just that his philosophy of football was The Celtic Way. I've read enough about our early years to know about the style of football played by Patsy Gallacher et al and also that Stein demanded that his players be as respectful & sporting as Maley & Kelly would have done before him. |

Sorry Stevie. Although I wasn't sure exactly what you meant, my comments were actually referring to the FF article - which I think was posted on here No offence meant Edited by TheHumanTorpedo, 1 Jul 2009, 07:39 PM.

The Lisbon Lions It's not the creed Born from charity I really wanted to include 'The celtic way' but felt the three choices I made covered this anyway. If I had one choice I'd probably have picked 'the celtic way' so in hindsight I've probably not really selected my no1 choice. Billiant work THT as I can see the board really struggling with their selections on this one.

Oof. I nearly forgot to vote. ![]() I struggled with this TBH because I agree with TW, all 11 deserve pride of place in the Wiki. As for my reasons, well I'll try my best but I used my votes in each of the five parts to help me so I've gone with three of the ones I voted number 1. Charity Again, like TW, I only really got addicted to actually watching games when the WC was on in 98. There wasn't much TV coverage of Celtic and I couldn't afford to get to games. My sister got me a ticket for a game v Partick Thistle in 95 (we lost 3-1 ). I never forgot it though and wanted to go back but that was the only time she bought me a ticket. Even before that though, when she got her season ticket and started going to games, I heard her talking about them and so would always check scores to see if we had won, in the 90s it was a forlorn hope. One thing that stood out for me and really impressed me was the fact that the club was founded for charitable purposes and that they never forgot that and they still haven't. So, if I'm asked why I support them, it's a difficult question to answer but that is always part of the reason. It's Not The Creed One of the things I love about Celtic is the fact that everyone is welcome. It doesn't matter who they are, where they're from, religion or anything else. I always say Celtic is like family, I think this is why. Because whereas I might not feel I belong at certain times, I always feel like I belong with Celtic. As I see them as family, I hate to see them hurting so, when we lose a league, it doesn't matter how many in a row we've won before that, it still hurts me because it still hurts them. No matter what adversity we go through though, I always, always take consolation in the fact that I am part of this great family and not part of anything that is the opposite of what we stand for.Paradise Found I said I feel like I belong with Celtic, well Celtic Park - Paradise - I consider to be my second home. I love going there at any time whether it's a cup game against, with the greatest respect to these teams, the Dumbartons, Livingstons, Stirlings and Dundees of this world or a massive CL game against Milan, Barca or any of the other giants of Europe. Hell, I even find any excuse when there's no match on. Nothing beats CP under the floodlights but, at any time, I love it there. I have no doubt mentioned it in the past but I have some mental dreams at times, usually with a recurring theme inevitably involving Celtic in some way. One of the best ones I have to say was one where I was standing outside CP. It was mobbed but there wasn't actually a match on but word started spreading that there was a suicide bomber in the stadium. Well, naturally, we all ran. The thing is everyone else was getting away but I wasn't getting any further away from CP. Don't get me wrong, I was shampooting it when I woke up but, on reflection, I think that dream just shows that, no matter what, I can never get away from CP. Either that or, to quote a well known phrase my mother often uses - my heid's full of wee motors. ![]() Edit: Bugger! Paradise Found isn't in it and I only just noticed. ![]() Well, I'll go completely against my voting system and vote for Jock Stein instead of Paradise Found. ![]() As I said when I voted for him originally, there's no words I can use to describe him that haven't been used many times before. I sit in the JS stand. I will sit there til I die (not literally, I do leave CP occasionally believe it or not ). But I will never relocate. I walk past his picture every time I go to my seat, I always look at his picture and I always feel like he's staring right at me as I pass. He might not be here in person anymore but he is certainly here in spirit. He was the manager of the greatest team in our history but he left so much more than that behind. He left a belief, in me at least, that one day, we can do it again. "Legend" isn't enough of a word really to do him justice. ![]() HAIL HAIL Edited by Roseanne, 4 Jul 2009, 01:43 AM.
