DAVID BECKHAM was embroiled in an ugly confrontation with fans at hisfirst home game for the Los Angeles Galaxy after returning from Italy.

The former England captain attempted to jump over a barrier as heleft the field at half-time into a section of the crowd that had beenjeering him.

He was held back by security staff, members of whom were alsoneeded to restrain an angry fan who left his seat and rushed towardsthe footballer.

Speaking afterwards the 34-year-old explained: "I tried to shake one of the guy's hands but he didn'twant any of it. That's the way it is."

Beckham received a less than friendly welcome at his first homegame after returning from a five-month loan spell at AC Milan - theteam the Galaxy faced.

A hardcore section of the crowd booed Beckham every time he touchedthe ball and held aloft signs reading "Go Home Fraud" and "23: Repent"in reference to his shirt number.

Another read: "Hey Becks, Here Before You, Here after You, HereDespite You" while one stated: "Is evil something u are...or somethingu do?"

Earlier this year, Beckham indicated he wanted to stay in Milanrather than return to America, stating that the standard of play wasfar higher in Italy.

The apparent snub has angered some Galaxy fans, notably a hardcore that sit in the so-called LA Riot Squad section.

Throughout the first half of the game he was subjected to jeers and obscene chants.

After the referee blew for half time, Beckham tried to hurdle anadvertising boarding and appeared to make a "come on" gesture towardsfans.

In response, one man left his seat, jumped down on to the pitch andattempted to run towards Beckham. At this point security intervened andescorted Beckham to the changing room, while removing the fan from thepitch.

Despite the incident, Beckham returned in the second half. He wasthe last man to take to the pitch and hugged several of his formerMilan team-mates before gesturing towards the rowdy section of thecrowd.

A line of yellow-jacketed security staff stood below the supporters in the trouble area as a precaution.

On the pitch Beckham had a hand in both Galaxy goals, scored byAlan Gordon and Bryan Jordan, as they twice came from behind to draw2-2 with the Rossoneri. Thiago Silva and Filippo Inzaghi scored forMilan.

After the second Galaxy goal, Beckham turned and shrugged hisshoulders in the direction of the section of crowd that had beenjeering him.

The former Manchester United star was substituted after 75 minutes and walked off to a mixture of cheers and boos.

On the boos, Beckham said: "It's to be expected. Sometimes it goes beyond it. The majority of the fans have been great.

LOL

Evil? Wtf?

This is not getting at anyone who enjoys getting stuck in to these threads, you fill your boots. This is a statement about how I feel about the main board at the moment, and how it's overall vibe is beginning to get to me.

Right folks, there are enough negative threads going on at the moment, and I, for one am pure dead bored with them.

Until something positive happens, there is absolutely NO POINT in dredging up the same old, same old, same old flaws in Strachan's tactics, player's skill, et-bloody-cetera and flogging them to a millimetre of their lives and paralysing by analysis to the nth degree.
And then adding another tuppence worth more.
And then a bucketful.

All the negativity is counter productive and builds up a momentum which apparently has a knock on effect on a lot of people. The amount of threads which are full of polarised opinions constantly sniping and counter-sniping at each other is not what I like(d?) about KDS.

I can't believe I'm the only one who is fed up posting a repeat of their opinion in the repeat of every thread about any given situation or player which is repeating itself.
(Or possibly I am?)

So I've stopped restating my opinion on most subjects, and worse, stopped reading the threads because I can guess roughly what's going on and which poster will be posting which opinion about what detail in the current crisis.

It also is having a knock on effect on the other boards. Even they seem less light hearted as usual, and I'd hazard a guess that the overall post count is down in them.
So I reckon that a lot of people must be feeling slightly fed up with it all.

I propose that this thread becomes a haven for football related japes, jokery and other light hearted nonsense, so that we can remind ourselves that actually, in fact, nae kidding, you can actually enjoy yourself whilst watching or talking about the game.
BTW - This is not meant to be an appeal for happy, everything is rosy, BELIEVE type threads, just a bit of light relief to remind ourselves that it is only a game which we should enjoy including the "old bad times" which we laugh about now ("haha").

Down with depression.
I'm away to take a pill now.

Naturally, if nobody replies, I shall take it that my gut feeling is actually correct, and that everyone has caught the negativity bug, and I shall keep on keeping away just in case I catch it. FFS - there's not even been enough material for a good picture.

Anybody fancy a puzzle? I've got one ready.

Did anyone get a swatch at Strachan's Tactics board on Sunday?

Ever hear the one about the ant, Nate, who was given the job to protect the Lever which guarded the ant hill? A big stone rolled toward the Lever one day and Nate threw his body into it, nudged it just enough, and saved the Lever and the ant hill. Moral of the story?

It is better Nate than Lever.

Welcome to the thread dude.

I know you're new, so I'll let you work out for yourself what this thread is about. Start with the date of the first post and try to remember what was going on then, the state of Strachan's Celtic and some of the really bad games at that time, and if you care to go through the thread from the start, you'll get the gist.

You've not been on KDS long enough to realise the nuances so... enjoy.
