Yes, but this thread title is:

Naka - BBC Documentary.

So it's understandable if people were expecting a BBC Documentary about Naka.

I went by the thread title when I sat down to watch it but had not read the contents of this thread.

I'm guessing a few others did the same.
Well apologies but go by the programme listing. Folk complaining that there aint enough Naka in it didn't get the point.

Whoever put the thread up should have put the proper title in.

I didn't have a programme guide. I was sitting in a friend's house drinking beer when we remembered it was on.

I'm just clearing up why people might have misunderstood what the show was about.

It was just a TV programme so not a big deal at all if the title was a bit wrong. If it hadn't been for KDS we wouldn't even have known it was on at all. Not a big TV fan.

Agree that Lawwell came across as a bit of a bawbag. His attitude towards Japan was really crass in that it was being treated solely as a club marketing exercise. It would be nice if he could show a bit of, I don't know, class at least when dealing with Japan because no doubt those Japanese fans we have will likely see part or all of this documentary and as a very nice society of people generally they might be a little perturbed by the Bad Suited Man (who named him the SSM by the way?) and his attitude of exploiting them for £££. Naka and Kouki too if they were to watch it.

Lawwell came across as a bit of a sack.
As HTK posted above, Something sinister about it all. The japanese seem fairly innocent and sincere whereas lawwell is vometing corporate nonsense about spreading the celtic story.

Exploit Peter, the word you mean is exploit.

It was a bbc documentary with naka in it, so I put "Naka - BBC documentary"

Missed it. :(

What was it about? Was it any good?
Not really.
Seemed to be about any cross overs from Scottish and Japanese football.
Best bit was the Japanese Celtic supporters watching our pre-season friendly with Spurs in some pub. They were really passionate and certainly knew their stuff
Wee bits of interview with Naka, Koki and Strachan. Unfortunately Naka was outlining how much he wants to go home :(
Then there was bits about some clugger who used to play for Falkirk, I think, playing over there, Alex Miller currently managing Koki's old team JEF and seamlessly blending in to Japanese society and some hun referee who went over there for ten years.
Cheers.

call me a total cynic....but did anyone think the subtitles showing what the Japanese fans were saying might just have been a creation of the programme maker?? :ponder:

absolutely remarkable that Hinkel, Naylor and Donati were getting the "treatment"...

but it made me laugh out loud!!!

While it might have been the focus of the questions/Lawell's slant, there is also the chance that the Beeb just took the choice comments from a long reel of footage.

It might not have been all Lawell said, just all the editing showed.

Visited that bar a few years ago in Roppongi. Funny thing is, when i went to Tokyo, it was just after Naka's first season, and he still wasn't that visible on advertising or in the sports shops. I'm guessing itt all changed after the man utd game

It's Peter Lawwell, not some 18-year-old player who's got no idea how the media works.

I love the fact that fans around the world are having the exact same moan at the exact same second in various languages. Nothing brings the Celtic family together like "FFS Naylor!!!" "Shoot! SHOOOT!!!" and "he's rubbish, so what do you expect . . . "

The poor old WeAsEl, getting slated in every time zone simultaneously . . .

Besides, the BBC can't just make stuff up. Think what it'd do to their reputation. :ph43r:
